do you prefer exposed hardware hinges like shown here vs. hidden inside?

i understand completely that it's dependent on the period look, how it influences the rest of the design elements in kitchen, and the overall feel. I truly hope i wasn't implying that i thought this particular design looked too busy. I'm a graphic designer and muralist, not an interior designer. My home was destroyed last fall in the Texas fires and so i'm rebuilding and trying to do things economically by using my own design sense (which may not be worth much) so thus, was just inquiring about others' opinions. Hope i did not offend. thanks.

I prefer hidden hinges for a number of reasons. Not only do the cabinets look sleeker and less busy, it is much easier and cheaper in future to update your kitchen cabinet hardware if all you have to replace are knobs and pulls.

I'm a big fan of flush cabinet doors instead of overlay doors, which I think look better with traditional hinges than hidden ones, IMO, but that is a design design that speaks more to period influence than modern practically. Traditional hinges are more difficult to fit properly, and eventually they will need some adjustment with use.

What I am NOT a fan of is dark bronze fake patina. I'd rather start with unlaquered brass and let it age naturally.

Blanket answers do not suffice. This was a design decision that was made to create more of a counterpoint to the contemporary "overlay" cabinets with concealed hinges at the island and family room.
