They look perfectly healthy to me. I would guess they are different varieties, the larger may produce a larger pear tomato and the smaller may produce a cherry pear tomato.

There are literally hundreds of different tomato leaf shapes and types. Pictures of many of them are available to view at wintersown.org Likely this is perfectly normal for this particular variety.

Thanks so much. I figured it was in my head :) One of the "stunted" tomatoes seems to have grown a little. They both have strange tiny mushrooms forming at their base which I assume means the soil is too damp so I think I will lay off watering that section.

My whole garden saw rain for the first time in its 3 month existence on Friday.... so far all that means for me is a lot of powdery mildew to deal with. Who know rain could be such a problem for plants? :)

The tomatoes look wonderful to me! And I know what you mean about powdery mildew; I have it on my roses (which are at least downwind from the veg's). We had a weird kind of "almost rain" Friday night/Saturday early a.m. but I seem to have escaped the mildew on veg's--so far...

Try a mixture of milk and water with a drop of green soap. spray on the powdery mildew
