Hi,
I am down in Rochester. If you are trying to grow tomatoes in pots you might consider the size of the pots you are trying to use. Are the pots too small for the tomatoes?
Later in life, the tomato plant needs a pretty big pot and a trellis or cage to grow up.
You may want to visit a local garden store and ask about a large plant pot and tomato cage or stake system.
you could also google information about making your own "earth box" as I hear those work well on tomatoes.

Something close to a 5-gallon bucket size is about right for tomato plants. If you go too small, there can be times the moisture will dry more frequently and plant will wilt during the day. Those stresses on the plants can cause blossom drop, blossom end rot, and a generally poor crop.

If you go with a smaller pot, you should expect to have to water daily unless it rains.

I have mine in plastic 5-gallon pots.

Also I have tall cages over them. Last year the cages came in handy as my maters got to about 5 1/2 feet.
