Vegetables have different watering needs that's also dependent on your climate and the time of year. The fine folks here would have to know a little more about what you're growing and where you're located. Here in the desert S/W I have all my gardens setup with drip systems and timers and water every other day, (sometimes more). I also have a fertilizer injection system that fertilizes when I water. Here's a few photos:

For your area you can find a soaker system at Wal-Mart. You buy fittings that just push into the hose where you want circles ect or just straight runs. Water timers for garden hose are available also at garden centers.

I use drip tape, but for your small area, I believe soaker hose is the best option - you generally have to buy 1000' of drip tape plus filter and pressure reducer. Careful not to over pressure soakers as they are pretty fragile in that regard.
