One thing to mention here, all of the one's mentioned here are sour cherries, nevertheless...good for processing into jam, preserves, wine, or fresh if you love tart things.
I find the Western Sand cherry very nice in bloom and the shiny silvery leafs are nice too. This one would be my first pick in testing growing in container, this one is a underrated cherry IMO..the Hansen would be very similar I would think? Not sure about Carmine Jewel, perhaps it would be worth a try, a better growing one with more flowers is the Evans here, not sure what they will do in your warmer climate.

actually i saw a youtube video from gurneys growing a carmine jewel in a wine barrel, my container is probably a little smaller, has anyone actually tried it?

When I was moving from one house to another and before the garden was set up I kept my collection of fruiting bushes in large pots. I don't know the sizes since they were all different - but they were like 2 feet tall and wide at least.
They had to stay in pots for one year and nobody died.

I have the Bush Cherry series named Jan, Joel and whatever (I bought them years ago when they first hit the scene). They are very pretty when in bloom. I recommend them all the time as an ornamental. They are also pretty when bent over with fruit. The fruit is small and tasty but it doesn't taste like a cherry to me - more like a wild plum.
