I Have mine done .... I read up on her Garden Web Bio and think I Came up with something nice !!

**The worst thing is having to find boxes ....gggrrrrr....

Hi Kirk! I'm afraid I'm having a problem...I keep finding more and more things I want to send my person! I've had to change the size of the box twice now! toomuchglass, if you ever have a hard time finding boxes, check out the $ stores. They are unpacking stuff every day, so I always find boxes there!

    Kirk,

WOW, I had so much fun looking for my Secret Santa! Mine is all wrapped, packaged and ready to go. I'm thinking I may send it off next week, but I can wait to until you say "GO!" to start sending them. Now, do you want us to post when we RECEIVE a gift and post who we had? Do you want us to post who WE had as a Secret Santa???? I'm all ears. Waiting for direction. :-) Oh, and should we open the present immediately or wait until Christmas? Ah, that would be torture now, wouldn't it? (evil laugh)

It's too crazy--it doesn't feel like Fall or even the begining of Christmas season yet....It's like mid to high 70's here today as it has been for the last two weeks! I swear it does this all the time. I wouldn't be surprised if it was 80 on Christmas Day!!! We'll be in Oregon for Christmas though.

    Love, Jules

Jules, My thoughts are to send the gifts out as soon as you're ready so they get to your person in time for Christmas. Then, open your gift at Christmas... or earlier if you just can't wait. Hee hee. Then, post what you received (with a photo if you can) with who your Secret Santa person was. (We're including our names inside the packages.) Pretty laid back rules. :o)

We're freezing here in Washington State. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! That's why Santa wears a warm suit and has a beard! I've got the beard thing down! Ho! Ho! Ho! :o) Kirk

Hi, This Secret Santa idea has been so much fun for me! I have a bazillion things I would love to send, I can't make up my mind! Also , I really am going to try to not to open my gift until Christmas day!

oh, I'm so behind here I think. NO clue what my person would like even tho read her page for ideas. I haven't even started my Xmas shopping for family either. Hopefully the recent "excitement" from my DH and Dad is over, and I can now concentrate on fun stuff and give my nerves a break. But first I'm going to hit the bottle......L'Oreal that is. This gray has GOT to go and they gave me a whole new bunch lately.

    hugs, Karen

I have a few ideas on what to send my person but I'm falling behind on getting everything together because I just got back from seeing my first grandson. I have two granddaughters already. This is my oldest son's first baby. They named him Jacob and he looks just like my son, even though its been 30 years since he was born. Where does the time go?

CONGRATULATIONS, CREFTYJANJAN!!!!! When was Jacob born? I love the name they chose! I love babies! Our little guy Benjamin is now 9 months old! He has been such a joy for us all and such a surprise since we were both 45 at the time of his birth. He will keep us young! Does your son live far away? Will you get to visit your grandson (and everyone else of course LOL) often? Again, congratulations! You may have difficulty thinking about Secret Santa with the thoughts of Grandchildren! Hee hee! Kirk

    Thanks Kirk,
Jacob Alexander was born Friday morning at 12:12 a.m. My son and his wife live a little over 2 hours away from us. We don't see them as much as my other children and grandchildren because they are so busy and don't live as close. But my DH comes in on Dec. 1st and we will be going then so Pappy can visit his grandson. Lol. They do grow up so fast. My granddaughters will be 6 and 3 in December and January.
I am busy with the grandchildren but so excited about Secret Santa. I'm still working on what I will be giving to my person. I make a lot of my gifts for Christmas so I'm constantly running around anyway. Lol

I had a hard time deciding what to do for my person, but after looking back at all 67 pages in this forum (whew!!)I've come up with something I hope she'll like. Now for the final touches & the box. I can't wait to send it!!!

I am still undecided..Have not found much posted by my person...and her page doesn't say much. I have been toying with a couple of ideas....time is flying. O MY!!!!

Well I hope my bio page gave hints as to what I like! lol! My secret Santa recipient doesn't post much here so I hope she likes my gift. I have to make some finishing touches to it but she should definitely have it in time for Christmas! I am looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with. Thanks again to Kirk and Carol for putting it all together!

Next year, I would definitely have people e-mail me their garden junk likes along with their addresses. Live and learn! :o) I am dying to mail our gifts! Carol reminded me that we will also be receiving something from our Secret Santas. I forgot about that part; I'm having so much fun on the giving part! :o) Kirk

I'm so excited about the gift I'm sending. I studied up, and at first didn't find many clues, but then something hit me and I ran with it! I found one part, and last night found the perfect compliment to it. I've got it all together and just have to wrap it up!

    Did I say I'm excited? Oh...I did? Good...'cause I sure am!!

Janet, CONGRATULATIONS on baby Jacob. You got Xmas early didn't you?

I keep checking to see if my person is posting any special wants or likes, but she isn't co-operating. LOL I better come up with something soon and hope for the best, or I'll never get rid of the grey hares. I mean hairs.

    hugs,Karen

    Thanks Karen,
Jacob was actually due on Thanksgiving day. I'm so glad he came a little early since I'm having Thanksgiving at my house. My DS and his family won't make it here until Christmas Eve but my Dh and I will be visiting before then.
I know what you mean about your person not posting wants or likes, mine isn't either. But I decided to give her something that I would like and hopefully she will like it too.
    Janet

    Janet,

Congratulations!! Your holidays have been truly blessed with a new grandbaby to share them with.

Grandkids are the best! They're the reward for not killing your kids! LOL

    Enjoy!

    ~Sandy~

INSPIRATION........I now know what I'm getting my person!!!
Last night I came across a wonderful little poetic type saying that was to accompany a gift. LIGHTBULB MOMENT.
Surely this is something that will appeal to most GJers, and especially hope it does to her!!! WOOOO HOOOO, I gotta plan!

    hugs, Karen

I hope everyone is checking their person's My Page! That's where I put the things I like. Isn't that what we were supposed to do, or were we supposed to tell on the Conversation side? Either way, I'm lucky because my person has posted quite a bit, and I think I know what she likes...I hope!

I haven't a clue what to make my person and have not had time to think about it with craft shows scheduled every Saturday! Also a grandbaby overdue by 9 days now - she is to go in tomorrow morning at 7 AM to be induced!

But I did have an idea - when we post pictures of our gifts, it would be neat if you could have a picture of yourself with your item. That way, we can put faces with names - wouldn't that be COOL? We could all "meet" each other that way.

What do you think about that?

    Arlene

I'm in a panic...haven't been able to find anything good at the thrift stores lately. Been going through my stash of stuff and can't find anything that seems to "fit" my person either. Time is going by so fast and I really don't want my person to be disappointed in what they get from me. Still, I love the hunt and am confident I will find the perfect thing soon.

My person hasn't posted any ideas either but I've just been putting together an assortment of different things (fun, cheap things found at the TS). Hopefully she'll like most of it! And I like the idea of posting a picture of yourself with the gift you got. I was going to include a picture of myself in the pkg. I'm sending, maybe holding the gifts I bought, etc. I don't know - just thought that would be fun too!

I am ecstatic! I just heard back today from the last person, saying they received their Secret Santa person! That means ALL 51 people responded back to me! YEAH! What a relief! LET THE PRESENTS BEGIN! Ho Ho Ho! Kirk

Well I have no idea as to what my Secret Santa would like, either. So I wrapped what I had bought and sent it off!

Yup, already on the way. I've never been so organized with anything in my whole life!

Kirk, I LOVE the birdhouse. Another wonderful idea to steal.

It's been in the 90's the last couple of days so I'm really not feeling Christmasy. But I've decided to get a REAL tree, even though they're nothing like North American fir trees, they don't even smell, but they're something like it. I'll take a pic so you can see the weird trees they sell here as Christmas trees.

I'm really looking forward to the Show 'n Tell thread where everyone shows off their gifts. I like Arlene's suggestion of taking your pic with the gift so we can see who's who. We had a special who's who page on the mosaic forum and that was a hoot! But someone there is a puter whiz and created a web page and all that stuff - too techy for me! HA!!

So yes, let's take our pic with the gift. No need to be camera shy! Ha!

    Cait

Arrrggghhhh, I spoke too soon. Checked her my page again and even tho didn't get much help, it did sorta tell me my idea wasn't that good for her afterall.

Luvstoclick and gardenpotter, the photo idea is a good one. I'd love to SEE everyone myself. Unfortunately photos of me tend to look more like a mug shot, LOL.

Arlene, hope by time you read this, you have BIG news to share of the new arrival. 9 days overdue is definitely not fun for Mom's. My first was almost two wks over due and induced, and he weighed over 9 lbs. Surprised I can remember that long ago, LOL. He just turned 44.

    hugs, Karen

Karen, I hope things work out in finding the perfect gift. If I know the people on this forum, any gift will be greatly appreciated! :o) Cait, I happen to know from your person that your gift was sent already as well! I wonder how long it will take to get the gift to Australia? Now, will you open it right away or put it under your tree? I think that is cool that you're getting a REAL tree this year! Do post a picture of it!!!! (Maybe with your gift underneath!) :o) Kirk

Purplemoon, I'm having the same problem.

I have "several" different ideas, but I'm just not sure if they will like them. So I've been looking and thinking. I didn't realize it was going to be so hard to pick something out for someone I don't know.

I like the idea of making something, I hadn't thought of that! Great rustic birdhouse, Kirk & Carol.

My person has even given some hints, but, gosh, everyone has a different idea of what's junk-even junkers. It can be a fine line, lol.

I really MUST apologize to MY OWN Secret Santa! I surely wasn't much help, I didn't leave any list, but just to ease your mind, if you're reading this, I'm really not hard to please.
Did you ever read that kids book "I Like Trains"?
Well it goes (somethin' like this, as they say)--
I like trains, big trains , little trains, fast trains, slow trains. I like trains.
I like cars. Yellow cars, blue cars, old cars, new cars. I like cars.
I like cats. Sleepy cats, baby cats, catty cats, on and on, you get the picture.

Don't worry about me, I like many very different things and I'm easily amused, lol.
If you thought it was cool enough to send I'm sure I will love it.

WEll, I just had to post that my Secret Santa's Gift went out today. I just needed to do it before the MADDENING rush. I REALLY hate crowds so this was perfect. Now, to whomever receives it, uh hum, you can open it now, or you can put it under a tree (that is if you have it up already) and wait. Maybe we can wait to post from whom we've received something until Chirstmas Eve or Day. That way our fellow garden junkers won't piece it together as to whom was their Seccret Santa......Just a thought. I know some of us will just BURST if we don't say for awhile. Just a thought....Your thoughts Kirk????
    Love, Jules

Hi Jules, I think your idea of waiting to post until Christmas Eve or day is a good idea. I know I won't open mine until then, because I get so few surprise gifts anymore! It's so much easier to give my family ideas, because to send my DH into an antique store is asking for trouble! So I make a list, and the only surprise is which things they picked from the list!! Kirk, what are your thoughts about waiting to post?

Hey, I love reading all your ideas and messages ... and EXCITEMENT! Just want to share this with my S.S. ... I didn't give any ideas...but don't send me this! My second DD and SIL gave me this a couple years ago! Ugh! Got to love it! Jeanne S.

    {{gwi:126447}}

    Two OLD Crow-knees!!!

That's a great idea to wait until Christmas Eve or Christmas Day or after to post what we received. I love the picture idea too! Jules, YOU ARE GOOOOD! You sent yours already! Way to go! We'll send ours Friday. Can't wait! I agree, Coutrygrl, no surprises here either as Carol and I always know what we give each other... (Carol is having my grandmother's rocking chair refinished for me this year.) So we are going to wait until Christmas to open our Secret Santa gift too. Jeanne, you are a HOOT! Those crow-knees are hysterical! Kirk

Yeah, I had turned 59 a few months before receiving the old "crow-knees." My dd and sil must have thought that was old enough to be labelled "old croonies!" Ugh!

This SS (that's NOT SS for Social Security!) is so much fun...I've had lots of ideas and am working on the final idea now...I think all "garden junkers" will have fun giving and receiving and being Secret Santa's!

But don't know if I'll be able to leave a package alone...until CHRISTMAS!!! Here's my Christmas pic...so now you all can know me better! Jeanne S.

    {{gwi:128136}}

Jeanne - those crows are def. what I would call ugly!! How funny!

    Arlene

Jeanne, what a great picture! It's like Miracle on 34th Street! Those crows are actually kinda cute, but I can see where you wouldn't care too much for the sentiment behind it!

Jeanne, I love the crows!! Ah, we're getting older.... SO WHAT!!! Seems we're having more fun now than we ever had before. At least I am.

Yes, I'm getting a real tree and I'll take a pic with me in front of it with my opened SS gift that I'm not opening until Christmas morning. That's the tradition in my family... Christmas morn not before 6:30AM!! HA!! Like I get up at 6:30 anymore... more like 8:30!!! But that's what happens when you go to bed at 1:30 in the morn.

I just hope my SS person likes the gift. It will be real interesting to see what they do with it!! I don't really mind what I get... just getting something is exciting. And because I know how hard it was to look and find something I know that same effort was put into the gift for me. And that's really special.
    Cait

Yippee...my SS present is wrapped and ready to go tomorrow!! I hope my person likes the gifts I picked out. I'm so excited about this gift exchange. I feel like a little kid waiting for Santa!

I agree...I know I'll love anything I get! No matter what it is...it'll be great!

I'll wait until Christmas Day to open mine. We celebrate Christmas with the kids and their families here on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day, they all go to their in-laws, so DH and I are usually alone to open gifts from each other. After all the noise and confusion the night before...and we've cleaned the house again...we enjoy a relaxing day of reading and listening to good music while sitting by the Christmas tree...and stuffing ourselves with "low-cal" (Not!) food and booze! Oh...and we have a fire in the fireplace! Gee...I can hardly wait!

    ~Sandy~

I have almost got my Secret Santa Gift ready to mail. I am going to wait till Christmas Day to open mine. I can't wait to see in my box! I will love anything I get. I will take pictures but I will have to find out how to post pictures, as I have never posted pictures. I have always wanted to. It will be fun to see what 51 people get.
