Pictures in Garden Jumk

I have been reading GardenWeb forums and love to see the pictures you all post here. I also have been to some of the other forums where many posters consider it criminal to post pictures. I cannot imagine garden junk without the photos and wondered how you deal with it here. Friends or foe?

a picture is worth a thousand words

I don't post that often here anymore but I still read. I used to be techsupport8.

Here's the reason some people don't want to post photos here.

Directly from GardenWeb/iVillage's terms and conditions:
By submitting content, which shall include your member name, to any "public area" of the GardenWeb Network, including, but not limited to, the forums and your personal website, exchange page and journal, you grant iVillage a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive right (including any moral rights) and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, sublicense, assign, derive revenue or other remuneration from, communicate to the public, perform and display the content (in whole or in part) worldwide and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media, or technology now known or later developed, for the full term of any Rights that may exist in such content.

They gain the right to use any photo (or content) you post here in perpetuity along with the right to alter it, FOREVER. They can make money off your work and alter it as they want . . . forever.

If you don't care about that, fine. But be advised of what you are agreeing to by posting here.

You can get around this by providing a LINK to your work on another site rather than posting the photo here. iVillage has no rights to your work elsewhere.

The above paragraph is also why, though flattering to have someone reference my work by posting it here, I do not allow people to do so. It's MY work and I own all rights to it unless specifically give away or sell them.

    Just a standard warning.

M_wench makes a good point about not posting photos of others.

I don't worry much about my photos, I don't think they could make much money off the quality of photos I post. I would prefer that I'm asked if somebody were going to use one, though.

The other thing about photos is, too many photos in a post or a thread make it impossible for those on dial-up to ever get them to load. There are still lots of folks who don't have DSL, or Cable, or Satellite and we quickly forget about them. A single photo with a link makes it much easier when there are lots to show.

I got lots of pictures of my garden junk.

It's all junk, found objects, not an ordinary rock anymore, scrap mosaics.

Your giraffe and polar bear are marvelous!
    And I love the wall.

OOPS!!! OMG- I'm so sorry...I just 'fixed' a post that had the URL addy in the text, thinking they just didn't know how to post the pic.
