Aren't they just saying that the plants are choice (as opposed to seconds)? It's hard to say for sure without seeing the statement in context, but that's what I would expect.

BTW, if that it what they mean, the statement doesn't necessarily mean anything. No company is going to claim their product is inferior. Check Garden Watchdog or search for reviews on the web before sending them money.

Yep, they are just saying that their plants are not seconds or rejects. If there's not many reviews on GW, why not ask about the company here. I'd bet you'll find people that have bought stuff at where ever you are talking about. Add the feedback here with what you find on GW, and make a decision based on that.

A small word about "State Certified". It doesn't mean anything. All states require incoming stock to be state inspected. As I recall, my state requires larger nurseries to be state inspected, whether they ship to other states or not. State inspection consists of an official from the state's ag department making one on-farm visit during the growing season.

When nurseries advertise "State Inspected", or "State Certified", they are merely advertising what states require virtually all nurseries to do.

Yes, the description of "State Inspection" is correct.
However, such an inspection doesn't mean "nothing".
Like a restaurant inspection, a nursery inspection is
used to be sure disease and insects are controlled.
Without a clean inspection, a nursery liscense can
be withheld or revoked.
