Nesting Owl Cam

Here's a fun live cam of a nesting owl. I can't wait to see the babies!

Here is a link that might be useful: Owl Cam

    Great! I love it.
    Thanks, Mary.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I used to watch a live cam several years ago, but something happened and the owl disappeared. I love owls.

    Thank you, Mary!
She is almost ethereal in her beauty!
---Takes my breath away when she moves...
I've sent the link to my children and grandchildren.

This is right on my desktop now and I'm also sending the link to my son and his family. I've watched eagles hatch and fly away and watched Iowa corn grow. This owl cam is just wonderful.

Just made myself a sandwich for lunch and decided to watch the owl again. Just as I bit into my fare, she regurgiated the leftovers! Almost did the same, LOL.

On the upside, she got up and I think she has 3 owlets.

Very cool, and my cats like it too. I think I just saw something x-rated.

It's midnight---is that a bloomin' LIGHT shining in her face in the middle of the NIGHT?
Is she on 24 hour duty for OUR interest and curiosity???
Something is very wrong with this set-up.

Don't anybody tell me that people in far corners of the world have to have a chance to see her, also.

They should get up in the middle of the night to watch----she's the LAST one that needs to be inconvenienced by any of us.

This just put a really bad taste in my mouth.
Sure she's awake at night, but her eyes are made for seeing in the dark, not into a BRIGHT light shining in her eyes!

    We still don't get it....

Never mind! I copied and pasted FAQ's in case someone else thinks the same thing I did----it's infrared light and doesn't bother her.

Guess I can go to sleep now.

Listen, I know I fly off the handle--nothing new----it's just that I CARE---with all my heart, I CARE.
Ask Little White-Foot Mouse who lives in the woodpile on the deck, just outside the window. Right now she's getting up dropped seed from the feeder---she knows I see her, but she goes on with her work. I respect her work ethic.

What kind of cameras and lighting are used?
The cameras are Logitech Orbit AF (daytime) and Agama V-1325 R (infrared, nighttime). There are 4 infrared (IR) LEDs on the camera that are invisible to owls and humans, but allow the camera to pick up an image we can see at night. There is also ambient light from the neighborhood that comes into the box at night.

Is this camera hardwired, battery operated, or solar powered?
    ItÂs hardwired.

Can the night cam zoom in?
No, only the daytime camera has zoom and is height-adjustable. The infrared camera is positioned lower and gives a different view of the nest.

Does the light at night annoy Molly?
There is some ambient light from the neighborhood, but there are no extra lights used at night. Molly doesnÂt seem to mind.

Are the cameras actually inside the box?
No, they are attached to the exterior of the house with a protective cover.

I was wondering if it might be infrared--it's pretty high quality, considering. Locally, I check in a couple of times a day at our library's falcon cam (at www.epl.org) to see how the peregrine falcons and their eggs are coming alone, but that's only a still capture.

She doesn't seem to notice when the daytime camera is switched to infrared....she doesn't even look at it.

I'm sitting her watching her with 3 babies and an egg under her and wondering how on earth when she stands up like she's doing right now,how she can manage not to squish something or other with those big feet. It's just amazing and once again I'm in total awe of nature, particularly birds.
