I went but only took a few photos. Crowded? Yes. Bargains? Didn't see anything priced unusually low. My haul was basically my preorder + a couple of others. I was good ;-)

Here is a link that might be useful: a few photos, including a big rabits's foot fern (whatever...)

I made it there yesterday, sales tent was very crowded, nothing I wanted. Exhibits were wonderful, BUT, they were all commercial or society. I asked where the private ones were and was told that there weren't any. I found that very dissapointing. I'd go again, but not as a special trip.

    Hi jealous in KY,

It was a two hour drive to Longwood Gardens and worth the effort! The attendance was less on Friday morn compared to the previous two years. For me, that's good news. Less competition at the opening of the sales tent!

Longwood Gardens is a magnificent indoor display area for an orchid Show. I would love to see a WOC at a venue like this instead of in an exhibition hall!

The displays at Longwood are generally better than other shows that I've seen. That shouldn't be surprising.

Like komi, my haul was pre-ordered plants (5) plus another that I intended to purchase anyway--no surprises. There were a couple of hopefuls that didn't materialize--no loss! What was important--the vendors were there! There were a few new ones this year, too.

    Bargains? at Longwood?? :-)

I recommend this event to everyone who can attend in 2009. Please, don't come until Saturday or Sunday. I like the less crowded Friday scene to myself, as much as possible.

Oh! Ok, I'm a little slow today!!

    From Ecuagenera:
    Cattleya iricolor
    Lycaste fragrans
    Lycaste longipetala (aka gigantea)
    Lycaste schilleriana

    From Andy's:
    Lycaste deppei

    From Plantio La Orquidea:
    Cattleya jenmanii (Teresina X Rosa)

I planned on adding a Laelia purpurata rubra from Miranda's Orchids, however Francisco was unable to attend due to personal business in Brasil.

Andy had an impressive array of very healthy looking plants.

Plantio La Orquidea was a nice surprise.

My two new Cattleyas are at least 1-2 yrs from flowering. The Lycastes are probably capable of flowering next year after establishing some roots.

I hope that this helps. Did you get a "rush"? :-)

Komi, Thanks for the orchid screenshow. Really appreciate your efforts in supplying that. I very badly wanted to go, but can't go w/o spending big bucks because I can't help myself. Also, it's about a two-hour ride from here in NW NJ.

    Thanks to:

    Brooke, for asking the questions!

And to komi for nice pictures With Labels for the orchids!

kitty - I was lucky because they had a pay-per-vendor setup, and so cash or check only at many(all?). I didn't take any checks with me, so when I ran out of cash, I ran out. lol.

2.5 hr drive from here too - probably not worth it but an enjoyable day nevertheless.

Yes I got my rush from komi's wonderful picture and Stitz's list. Any of those could live at my place.

The problem with addictions is the rush doesn't last very long before you need another fix.

At one time I lived just outside of West Chester...Pocopson actually.
Longwood was always a favorite day trip for me since I lived ummm...probably 3 minutes from there!
    I was also a member.
The orchid display was exceptional although I never bought any.

    'Youse guys' are soooooo lucky!
    Nice finds for sure!

I didn't go :-( and I probably would have had the shortest drive. I headed north instead to the spring meeting and plant sale of one of those "other" plants I am addicted to..... LOL!
