Thanks TW! I owe the success to you and the BB! I forgot to mention the Celebration is in the backyard up against the house with the common Bermuda. We are about 35 miles south of Nashville, Tennessee.

Do you get a lot of hard freezes where you are at. By that I mean cold enough long enough to freeze the ground?

Just curious, I assume by hybrid Bermuda you mean Tifway-I (aka 419)? How is the color and texture of Celebration compared to the Tifway?

Yes, we usually have several nights in the winter that get down in the single digits. Last winter was extremely cold, with lots of snow and freezing temperatures. Both the hybrid Bermuda and the Transcontinental/Mohawk common blend in the back suffered very little winter kill. Yes, TW, the hybrid grass is Tifway 419. I put the Celebration in the back next to the house where it's a little shady, and I must say it's done very well. I'm very impressed with it's shade tolerance, color, drought tolerance, and density. Next to the 419, Celebration leaves are slightly more coarse and the color has a blue tinge to it. I think it's a beautiful grass! If anyone wants to see Celebration Bermuda in HD, watch an LSU home game. This will be the second season Celebration has been the playing surface of Death Valley.

OK you can raise the height now to add a few degrees of freeze protection.

The real killer for Bermuda is a dry ground freeze. So when you hear really cold weather is coming, and the ground is dry, give it a drink. Hopefully you get a nice wet snowfall cover before the deep freezing temps arrive as the wet snow prevents the ground from freezing.

Jon how much have you been watering, how often, and what time do you start to water? Because I've been watering mine at 1" of water once a week and mowing at 2" and the yard is looking bad. I know we shattered heat records here but I would think the yard would look better. also I haven't fertilized since the end of July. Any advise would help

Texas, 1 inch of water per week is not enough in the heat TX has had this year. Now that cooler weather has arrived things should start looking up. Get some fertilizer on it and water.
