GW e-mail kaput - Yahoo, anyone?

GW's e-mail doesn't work. Week before last, at least a couple of us e-mailed them about the problem and haven't even received acknowledgment of our messages.

How about if we create alternate e-mail accounts - Yahoo or some such - and post the addresses on our member pages? That way, people could maintain anonymity if they didn't want to give their "real" address, but we'd still have a way to communicate with each other privately.

To keep spammers at bay, we'd need to insert spaces in our addresses: White cat 8 @ yahoo .com. The first line of our personal blurb on the member page would be an easy place to look.

What do you think? An option?

Good idea. Maybe also leave of the dot. Everybody can figure out that a dot goes there.

I would also suggest a "/" instead of the "@" since that is one of the keys that the spammers search on besides the ".com" or ".net". The scanning programs are not too smart and they are looking for easy addresses, although they are beginning to catch on to some of the things that people do such as "[at]" and "[dot]".

I just now sent myself a test message thru mypage, and I received it.

GW mail is inconsistent at best. Also did some testing last week with others. 1 in 4 are received. Richard is right and has the best idea leave out the "@" and the "."

    Great idea Whitecat!
Now I have to figure out how the my page works.

Yeah, but what if I don't want to talk to any of you? ;~)

Anyway, I dumped most of the info from my member page over to my Flickr account.
I almost always have it open and reload frequently.
There were too many places to have to update constantly.
    I hardly check my email!
Of course when I don't, I always get something interesting.
Since I upgraded my Yahoo account, I should see if I can get another address as well.

Scott, Don't worry. You don't have to talk to anyone you don't want to, but someone might want to let you know where to get stilettos in your size - you never know - for that orchid discipline thing.

My Yahoo account address is on my member page. Hopefully, it's spam software-proof.

    Hmm!
    I don't know!
It's late and I'm not sure if I'm up to workin' it! ;~)

In that case, it'll have to be the Black Croc!
Vinyl makes me sweat like a Penguin with happy feet!

    Scott,

It's okay. You have to have taste to pull off cheap. Get vinyl sling backs w/ open toes, and you're there.

How badly has this thread been hijacked?

Wresting the thread back from the edge - This has been an example of the fun exchanges that could go on privately, if we had a way to contact each other.

Scott and Clara, thanks for the silliness. Sometimes it's the perfect touch.

Why doesn't everyone just post their private messages on this forum? I'm sure no one will read them if you mark them PRIVATE.

Isn't that like givin' a kid a gift in July and tellin' them not to open 'till X-mas?
