How many spikes can a phal orchid have at one time?

All of mine have 2 long spikes with flowers growing on them.
But how many can there be at any given time?

Those two spikes could branch producing more flowers, but I've never seen more than two spikes. One on each side

Depends...

A well grown phal can have more than 2 spikes.. I have a few phals that have 3-6 spikes... Species and hybrids... Some species will keep spikes for several years while adding more each year.

I never had any of the common hybrids make more than 2 spikes at a time. If you leave the old spikes, that's different.

My impression from the OP was, how many spikes would form at one time? I'm not counting old spikes. I don't think the OP was asking about species.

I have a mounted deliciosa (sp?) that has 4 new active spikes right now... I'm pretty sure I've had hybrids do at least 3 at one time also.

I've had my biggest phal shoot off 3 spikes at the same time. That orchid is huge to begin with so I'm thinking that maybe size plays a factor. It's also a blooming machine! It was making new flowers like crazy for a year.
