And I Put It In a Safe Place

Very large sigh. I decided to get an early jump on some of my Christmas tasks this year because my schedule for December is filling up fast. It's also a very busy time of year for me in my greenhouses.

I put the little Christmas tree up in our kitchen this morning. I packed it away with the lights on it, so it's cheerful but nekkid of ornaments at this point.

I also purchased some special Christmas cards last autumn when I went with my DIL and g'daughter down south for a train ride. Then I PUT THEM IN A SAFE PLACE!

Uh Huh. I've been through every bookcase, desk and drawer in five rooms already and I can't find them. So much for taking advantge of a little spare time to get caught up and maybe ahead of the game.

My husband is laughing, because he falls victim to putting things in safe places too. But, I shot the budget on these cards and have no intention of buying more cards this year. I either find them or we won't be sending cards.

It could be worse, I suppose. My sister is infamous for losing a Christmas gift ever year. But, it's still exasperating. Please tell me I'm not the only one who "puts things in safe places", never to be seen again.

....found $20 bucks once cleaning out drawers, guess I tucked it away for a rainy day ? The only thing I lose on a regular basis is my glasses, the other day at the grocer I was looking for them and this young girl at the register cleared her throat and said "Maam, they are on top of your head" ROFL !

Did you look in the 'fridge? Missing things are always in the 'fridge.

My Granddaddy lost his teeth once though, and after hours of searching, my mom found them in one of his boots. We still don't know how that happened.

So far, I can't find my favorite dining room table cloth or our stockings. We moved in August, but I'm usually good about keeping Christmas decorations in their place. So, I still can't figure out where those items have gone.

I'd love to see a picture of your little tree, calliope. I've got one of my tree posted over in the gallery.

Suzy, I just found 2 boxes of hand-made Christmas cards that I purchased last year after Christmas at 50% off. Where were they? In a box with Christmas decorations. I'm just now putting them with the other cards so I don't lose them again.

You know Andie, that's the only place I haven't looked, as I don't remember being into the Christmas stuff in the last two months, but I'd better go look there, huh? LOL.

If I had a dollar for everything I bought ahead of time and put in a safe place, I'd be rich.
Cards are the worst. I buy and lose those ALL the time.
Christmas gifts, well let's just say that right now there
is a bunch of wrapped gifts in the guest closet that Camilla
found scattered about the house. I'll have to unwrap them
to see what they are and try to guess what lucky or unlucky
person didn't get something last year.

Memories here of long ago...a chocolate Easter Rabbit hidden in my bedroom well before that holiday, not discovered until summer. Had completely forgotten buying it and only discovered it when I was hiding August birthday gifts...LOL josh

Calliope, you are not alone. Many times I've put something in a "safe" place and not been able to find it right away.

I've "almost" learned to stop panicking when I can't find something--especially a tax bill or some important piece of paper--'cause I KNOW it's not lost -- I've just put it away for "safe keeping". Of course, the problem is, if it's needed in a hurry, I'm out of luck. I find myself going to the "Organize the Home" forum for inspiration, but so far, my inspiration has been put away for safe keeping, too. :>)

I find things I put into a "safe" place once they are no longer needed or once they have been replaced, it never fails.
