Thanks to everyone for your thoughts. You have given me some more areas to search. I was also wondering about Chrysopsis pilosa as a possibility. I agree the web site 'Name that Plant' is excellent for identifying plants of the Carolinas and Georgia and I use it frequently. Yet another confusing yellow composite. Sigh.
