Congrats on your new greenhouse, and wish many many years of use out of it. I've had mine for about 4 years and glad i have it. The good news for you is that the GH is up, and now the rest is the fun part, getting the tables and thermometers, plants...etc. When you get going and need help, i am sure that everyone will lend a hand in helping you out!! again, congrats and keep us posted!! :-))

Great! Im happy for ya. This one has been a monster for us to put together. I got 2 shelves up today and I am nervous about heating methods. I put my cloth in the bottom tonight an put a big armload of plants in her. I added a little heater but I am nervous about heating methods. I was wondering about one of those Mr. Heater Propane heaters.

Congrats rjinga! I'm so glad you've finally got your GH. The hard part is done now and it will soon be so full, you'll won't remember what it looked like empty. :)

I use those small space heaters in both my Rion and the small HFGH. All are on thermostats from kkontrols.com. The Rion has auto-vents.

Dawg....I paid the first HM for approx. 12 hours of work @$12 an hour(of which only about 7 hours was spent on the GH foundation, the other hours he spent putting up molding inside and other misc jobs because when he came back the second time...it was very windy).

The second set of guys promised to finish it for $200. 2 of them spent about 6 hours and never came back...and he has NEVER come asking for any $$$ Plus he left his ladder here...bonus for me I say...OF COURSE, I'll give it back to him if he returns...but I sure wont be paying him for a job that someone else did.

The neighbor has not charged me anything...and I have baked him cookies...and have offered to take he and his wife out to a nice dinner of their choice and time.

I've debated about offering him $$$ I suspect he would not accept it...but I'm not sure how to approach it...Any thoughts on that notion?

I still really appreciate your very generous offer...I just knew my DH would have done a double back flip if I had actually accepted your offer....Just think of what he would have thought!!! Having had some OTHER MAN...travel from SOME OTHER STATE...not to mention (from his perspective) a TOTAL STRANGER....(of course having interactions with you here as well as via email...I know that you are no STRANGER than me :) ....ha ha.....The divorce would have definitely cost me much more!!!!! But you are a doll for even considering such a proposal

Thanks ALL for your kind words and support...I went out yesterday and bought 2 heaters from Home Depot...$9 and $12 respectively (priced just right for me to pass up)....one is an oil filled radiator heater...and the other is a utility type heater...electric of course....I'm wondering whether or not I'll need one of those timer/thermometer thingies....I dont expect many more below freezing temps...but there will likely be some...I think one of these has a built in thermometer...it will take some experimentation to find the "right" setting/temp but I'll work on it.

any thoughts? suggestions?

I never could "find" the correct settings so bought two plug in thermostats from Kkontrols.com at half the price Charlies charges for them.

greenhouser...I've been lurking around the seed exchange forum trying to get some different varieties of perenials and veggie seeds....so that's where I will start...

I've been also checking out the Winter sowing forum...and I'm a bit confused....if I start seeds now in flats, inside my GH (probably unheated, no grow lights and no heat pads etc....what is the difference between that and WS?

I also have a bunch of geraniums that I got at the end of the season that I've been storing in and out of my garage as the weather dictates...maybe they can go in there? I also have plans for next year to house some tropical fruit trees in there...guavas and papaya and a potted cherry tree.

What is a WS? I don't know your climate so can't say when you should plant your seed in an unheated GH. Both mine are heated so as soon as seed germinates I take the flats out there. If it freezes at night where you are you're better off starting the seed indoors or getting a cheap heater.

I haven't grown perennials from seed in years. When I did, I had a 3 shelf custom made plant table in the den.
