I, too, have the 6x8...nope...they'll burn...combine that with shading of some type.

I mist mine several times a day by hand, and I've never experienced burning (I too, have a HF 6 x 8). I do have a shade cloth though.

HMMMM so it sounds like misting is o.k. with a shade cloth. How early do you guys put on your shade cloth? Could I use a home made shade cloth ( a black tarp type material from a dump truck) or does it have to be store bought?

I ordered one, I can't remember where from off the top of my head but I could find out. It's aluminet and I think I only spent about 20 bucks on it. I have had mine on since I built the GH, but we live in a very different climate than you. I spose you could use whatever works. I like the aluminet though because it provides shade but still reflects light into the GH.

Here in Milwaukee I have to start shading in February. But I grow orchids and I suppose it depends on what you're growing in it.
