Yes what I refer to as rafters ARE the vertical supports. The lath is NOT laid across the supports but parallel to them directly on the polycarb panels running in the same direction as the vertical supports. If one end of the lath rests in the gutter, the other end just barely reaches above the ridge of the roof. I think I'll have to take a pic to either post or send but, like most things, it's really not as complex as it sounds.

Dave, that sounds like a great idea. I wish I read it before I bought shade cloth. It would be easier going around the vents too.
