John Deere stx46 Stalls

I have a 1996 John Deere STX46 and after about 15 minutes of running it quits. If left alone for a cooling off period it starts fine again but quits again after a time. Did not see spark on plug right after it dies. Do you think its the coil or possibly a relay killswitch problem? Any ideas how to check to eliminate either? Thanks in advance!

most likely the coil is failing - when the engine gets hot. If it were your kill wire/switch, would be trouble cold or hot.

one other long shot - chk yer fuel tank cap vent to make sure it ain't stopped up - bugs love thet little space to lay eggs, etc.

If that model has the kolher single CV something I too would suspect the coil. Had CV16 that did the exact same thing and a short time later no spark at all any time.
