Have had South Seas for years and the one thing that keeps it from being great is it lack of winter hardiness - nearly dies every year. Siver Spoon is a good lavendar and is hardy but doesnt bloom much - large flowers however.

mbundick,thanks for responding.I have picked south seas before posting the question. I wish I had patience to wait until I heard from fellow gardeners.I will pass silver spoon.Thanks again.

I have South Seas and Silver Spoon. This is the first year since the bad Easter freeze of '07 that it has shown better flower quality. It did survive the freeze, barely, but always seems to have a lot of dead wood in the spring. The flower color is variable from a coral pink to a medium pink depending on the weather.

Silver Spoon can have some really nice flowers. It does get tall. This will be its second year, but it hasn't bloomed yet. Lady X is a good alternative to Silver Spoon. It is also easier to find.
