Knockout roses twisted leaves & small blooms

Second year since planting and doing great but seeing patches of twisted leaves in certain areas of the plant

Almost like insect or disease related but nothing dead or apparent

Trying to attach a couple pics but can't

My email is jp4120@live.com if anyone interested in receiving a pic

Wondering if anyone has seen this?

I've had a cool, wet spring in northern VA then suddenly the weather turned HOT (mid 90's) and the new growth on several roses is blackened and crispy. Have you had an extreme weather change?

Aphids or hot weather was my first thought.

Or a whiff of herbicide. Roses are extremely sensitive to them.

Without knowing where you are, my initial inclination lately when I hear of abnormal, twisted grown in Knock Out is to suspect Rose Rosette Disease. Herbicide damage can also cause abnormal growth. The two types of damage look similar, but distinctly different from each other. If that makes any sense.

The attached photo is a fairly advanced case of RRD that I photographed while sitting in the drive-through line at Sonic in Ashland, Virginia.

(I'm attempting GW's new image file upload ... wish me luck.)

    Worked great.
    Looks awful. :-(

I trust hartwood's understanding, but, with only that long-distance shot to go on, my first guess about the Sonic rose would be Roundup damage rather than rosette disease. If it spread gradually through the plant, it is rosette. If it happened all at once, it is Roundup. A closeup might show that it is rosette, but the thin, curly, wiry look does commonly go with Roundup.

Wow Connie, that's what I call a "teaching picture"....bad enough so everyone winces.

Wondering if roundup damage to knockout roses can be salvaged or if they will come back? Please help.

Ok i have a petite pink drift knockout.. which after replanting to a pot developed a similar sounding problem…first off i realized pot was not draining well so took it out of the pot washed off roots and repotted with new soil. trimmed the branches that had curling leaves back, used Bayer 3 in one fertilizer, antifungal, insecticide granules and worked into soil around base and watered from under foliage. repeated again this season and noticed same with curling leaves and shimmery white coating as well. i cut it back leaving only healthy clear stems and leaves..removed all debris off soil and bagged and tossed. reapplied Bayer and its looking much better. I’ll give it one more season before I rip it out! 😂👍

Any chance of a picture? Could be a lot of things so best to See what it might be.
