Lucky you! I didn't do e-mail (maybe I should have!) but ordered online the usual way and haven't heard back yet. I'm planning on also adding a rose or two from the fall offering. Getting just one rose is no fun! However, right now I'd really like to know that I got at least that one! Of course, I was a little late; I think it was 6:03 when I hit the button.

Rats! I was three minutes too late. Both of the Zalud House Rasberry Shingled are gone. Gita said to check back in October, but I feel I'm not fated to have this rose.

Seeing as how quickly the older varieties sold out, I do hope that VG and other nurseries become aware that there is an enthusiastic, if small, market for beauties from the past.

Melva, both Greenmantle in California and Pickering in Canada carry Mme. Legras de St. Germain. Both are finished shipping for the year however. Pickering starts taking orders again in September for fall 2012/winter/spring 2013 and Greenmantle can be called to reserve a plant (they ship from January thru May). Fyi, Pickering carries 12 other albas and Greenmantle 8.

I just received an email from Gita, and I will be receiving Rembrandt and Nimbus, which latter will be a challenge in zone 5, but I am a sucker for the roses of Mattais Tantau, Jr.

Is Vintage Garden's fall release still going to be occurring in early August of this year? I have looked forward to their rose releases every year for almost four consecutive years. I am so excited to hear that they will be releasing roses from selections they have not offered before. I am waiting eagerly to see the list they send of what they will offer for this fall season. I hope to get some Bourbon roses and China roses during this next release. I keep missing out and ordering too late for most of the Bourbon rose and China rose offerings from Vintage Gardens.

Oops! Nimbus is from LeGrice, not Tantau, another house whose roses I like a lot. The pix on HMF are quite beautiful and someone in Moscow grows it.

wren-garden, I bought Louis Rodiger last winter. No flowers yet but growth is vigorous, and the foliage healthy for me. It all but jumped out of its pot, about a month after arriving, demanding to be planted.

Thanks Nastarana, I asked for September delivery. Hopefully we will be out of drought by then. I have a late Aug. vacation and I want to be here to dig a $100 hole for him.lol He will be going into a one year old bed. A companion is already there. A small flowered plum colored Clematis. Louis's job will be to hide the neighbors chain link fence and fill the view out the window next to the computer.

Oh nastarana! Now you've got me longing for another rose. I looked up Aennchen von Tharau...Synonym: "Oak Garden Alba." It looks wonderful. Not from CA. Vintage lists it as "Alba hybrid raised by Rudolf Geschwind in the late 19th century." I do hope they list more Albas too.

fogrose, it first arrived at Vintage as a found alba, and was then identified as the Geschwind alba.

It was apparently found in an "oak garden". I got to wondering what an oak garden might be, and that made me think of the oak forest near Chico, CA, which was used by Hollywood for a non-authentic background to costume dramas in the 30s.

I thought I posted yesterday, but I don't see my post here this morning.

I got only the rose I wanted the most, 'Souvenir de Pierre Notting'. I also had a previous order of two 'Cl Lady Hillingdon' pending, and I'm getting those. For some reason I've had trouble with that rose, but I love it and am trying again. (The shrub form is happy as a clam in my garden.) Anyway, I am quite pleased - my top choice, and none of the impulse buys. It is an excellent result.
