Help to locate an e-bay seller who has the exclusive roses from M

Hi,

I have been trying to place an order from moore's roses and after several attempts to communicate had a chance to talk to the owner of the bussiness.Looks like the rose Iam interested in is out of stock and won't be available any time soon. How ever I was told to look out for the sale of her exclusive roses on e-bay by one of her customers. She mentioned that the seller could be selling abracadabra and to search for that rose on e-bay.How ever I could't find it and I would really like to know if there is any chance of me having the rose I am interested in(Queen Beatrix).Any information about the sources and information as to how I could buy one is greatly appreciated. Thanks .

Dana

Well, that would be me, but there are no roses I sell that are from Lorene (yet). She probably saw my Abracadabra out there last year but i did not get mine from her, I got it from Carltons (may they rest in peace!). I have no Queen Beatrix cuttings, but go out and bid on my Jennifer Hart instead! Just kidding. I buy cuttings from Univ Cal-Davis, then sell the extra's. Sometimes i put others I think people would like out there also. Just a hobby, although I carry a nursery license so i can ship legally. We can talk about Queen Beatrix if you'd like...

At the risk of hijacking I have a question for Mike please. Will you be selling Vic's Refrain in your Ebay store next year?

    Thanks!

    Kate

There is a cutting of Vics Refrain with your name on it already in my misting house. I remember you asking even though you thought I was ignoring you :>)

Mike, I sent you an e-mail
oh wow I see you have Black Beauty up for bid. I remember asking you about that one last year. Its a beautiful rose.

Cool! I hate to be a pest but since you are being so gracious I will. My only worry at this point is that if it comes this fall it might not make it. It can turn fall-ish pretty quickly up here in the mountains and I would hate for my baby VR to die.

Want to wait until next spring? What do you think would be best? Thanks Mike.

    Kate

Kate - Next spring is the earliest I'd send it. It has to bloom first, then have a certain root structure before I even think of mailing out. I am trying out a new product on my cuttings this year called "MYKE", which is a root fertilizer containing Mycorrhizal fungi.

jean - I replied to your email. Pretty funny that you are "curious about glorious". Could I be any more of a dork?

Thanks Mike. I will be looking forward to that. Appreciate the update.

Dana my apologies about the thread hijacking.

Won't Dana be surprised when she checks back to see if anyone has replied to her original post?

Dana - back to the original question. I'll check tonight to see what I could cut from Queen Beatrix.

Sorry for another hi-jack. Could someone please direct me to Mike's store.

    Carla

    sent you an email carla!

I have my eye on one too. I got 2 last year and they are doing very well :)

carla - I really do not have a store per se, but if you look itup by seller (borje1956) you'll see all my roses. On 2nd thought, I'll put a link although I am hesitant to do that since I do not want to seem to be pandering. I have never mentioned I sell out there, although maybe I should have since I read here people looking for specific roses that I am selling at that moment. Anyway, link is here.

Here is a link that might be useful: My roses on EBAY

Wow. I'm astonished. All these many, many thanks to Mike . . . Wish I could say thanks to Mike. But then, Mike never said thanks to me, much less responded in kind. Hey Mike -- how you doin' guy? Hope all those cuttings rooted for ya . . . Maybe you can sell a few of 'em on E-Bay.

I will not argue out here, but I have sent you countless emails asking for you address for Acapella and a few others I had for you. Been doing this since last summer with no reply ever. Now, maybe there is something wrong with my email address out here since others have noticed problems. Go to the EBAY link and email me from there. I still have your Acapella, and I'll give you a list to choose from. By the way, J&P has not yet included Magic Lantern on my "right to sell" list, so none of the cuttings you sent last May were sold (however, they were given away).

    countless emails . . . what a joke. unless countless means 0.

So again, send me your address and I'll send you some rooted plants. I have a rose called "Glorious" right now that I'd be happy to send you. I just sent 4 to ramblinrosez, and have a few left. Only three of us (me, Cliff Orent and Ramblinrosez) have this HT from Europe, so it would be a good one for you to try if you like yellow, though not much scent to my nose. I still have Acapella that I can give you too, plus Condesa de Sastago is about ready? Good?

    my email address;
    borje56@comcast.net

Mike I had no idea until today you had an Ebay store. I'll be checking it now from time to time.

Condesa de Sastago is amazing. Do you have more than one? I'm interested if Windeaux isn't.

    Kate

Kate - I owe Windeaux some rooted roses since she sent me a ton of cuttings for a rose I really wanted to try in 2007 (Magic Lantern). I have quite a few Condesa de Sastago's by the way. I tell no one I sell on EBAY. Some out here know (sunnishine for one) since she has bought from me before. Just something I do for fun...

Condesa de Sastago IS amazing. I've always admired this rose but was afraid it would not survive Illinois winters. Mike - do you have to really do special winter protection to get it through until spring?

Mike I fully understand. I'm glad to know about your hobby/sideline. I haven't bought roses on Ebay for years but watching your page will be fun.

I understand about your situation with Windeaux. If you want to find a home for one of your Condesa's just drop me an email at kathrynfisher@netzero.net. No rush or pressure whatsoever.

    Have a great evening.

    Kate

    Thanks Mike and Sunnishine.

    Carla

terryjean - Condesa de Sastago needs no winter protection for me, and has hardly any dieback at all. It seems to be one of the hardiest HT's I have. If it did not blow so fast it would about be perfect!

Windeaux, it is possible your email program is blocking Mike's emails. I didn't get any emails from Ashdown last year and it turned out that yahoo was blocking them and they couldn't even send a reply to my email because it got blocked automatically. And the one time I tried to email Mike my email didn't get through so it could be his email too.

For anyone posting their email addresses, it is safer to post it in parts so a bot program won't pick it up. For instance: goddess athena 42 at yahoo dot com is my email address. Remove the spaces, translate the 'at' and the 'dot' and there it is but a bot program won't see it.

Mike, Are we to understand that J&P actually offers Magic Lantern for sale? Not where I live, they don't.

nastarana - AMEN! You and I have always argued this exact point. Funny thing is, and I made sure to point it out to them, is that the patent expires 7/6/2010, so it will not be long until they lose all rights. I actually told them I was going to start propagating now, but will not offer for sale until 7/7/2010.

I am so amazed!I have been bidding (and losing) on Mikes plants since last year but I had no idea it was Mike!

Sorry cherrykist! Like I said, I did not want to publicize since to me that is like pandering. I wanted to come out here to the forum and say I had some VID roses out on EBAY, especially when the subject turns to RMV, but just thought better of it. Well, the cats out of the bag now, so maybe now I will swith back from my "borje" back to my real name.

I like Roses. It is my favorite flower. I want to keep different roses in my garden.I like to spent my free time in my garden with my lovely Roses.

Is Martin trying to tell me something? Roses are addicting, but...

Carla that is an amazing picture. I love it.

    Kate

Carla - That bloom looks twice as big as your hand! What are you feeding them?

mgleason thanks for offering to look into the possibility of rooting the rose(s)I am intereted in.Please keep me posted .Iam glad I can hope to have the rose and don't have to feel sad every time I see the good qualities of the roses are mentioned or when I see a pictures of them.Thanks.

wow that is amazing carla! Add another to the list but that looks like it is huge. Is yours over 6 ft like hmf says?

sunnishine - I am in zone 5, and mine is about 5 feet tall. I can only imagine how tall it would be for someone in a very warm zone.

Oh Carla, that is a beautiful bloom! I love the colors!

Mike, no apologies needed here. I certainly understand it possibly being a sticky situation to "advertise" who you are on Ebay on the here. I have you listed on my favorite sellers.

If everyone would please buy from Mike, he might become rich enough to be able to ship to the West Coast.

haha! It is your states rules I am obeying! In order to ship there I have to get my inspector out here to watch me bareroot the roses to make sure no JB's are anywhere on the plant. I do it for some people, like my bestest friend Kathy Strong, and I'm doing it for Kate. I also do it for the CA rare rose auction as I donate plants to John (last year via Kathy). So be nice to me and maybe I'll send you a little something.

cherrykist - Some of my roses go for just the minimum, so keep an eye out. Apache Tears is a lovely rose if you like floribunda's, and Mon Cheri is a great rose! Those two, plus Anne Morrow Lindbergh and Arianna usually go for right around $10.

Mike - that's great news about about Condessa being winter hardy. It made my day; you have no idea how many times I've seen this rose and wanted it so badly but been discouraged because it said Zone 7. And now with Carla's beautiful photographic skills...well...enuf' said. I need no further encouragement.

terryjean - about the hardiness being listed as zone 7; Most of the HT's listed on HMFR are listed that way and I have found very few that I had trouble getting through a southern Michigan winter. There might not be much left of the prior years' canes, but they always seem to come back fine. Really, the only ones I have had troubles with are roses that are on Dr. Huey, and were body bags the prior year. The only HT not a body bag (off the top of my head) that I had trouble was Jocelyn. I finally gave that rose up just this year after trying for 4 years. This includes a lot of florist roses I have propagated and then left it to fend for itself for the winter.

Hey Mike, I got the cuttings, all looking pretty good! and the roots were really incredible! You are the rooting king! Thanks ever so much!
    also send you an e-mail

Glad to hear it Jean! Yes, the mycorrhiza I am using seems to be helping the rooting system.

Now for anyone wondering, Jean had unrooted cuttings of a rose not grown in US sent to me from someone in CA. I rooted them and then sent her 4 and kept some for myself. One is going back to CA for the California Coastal Rose Society Rare Rose Auction, which is in November. Anyone living in that area should check out the auction. I hear it is really something!
