My hubby and I go to this dig every year.You will find carolina jasimine,wild iris,ferns,wild azaleas,trilliums,wild ginger,dog woods,redbuds,we even found a lily.It did not bloom last year but I think it will this year.There were also some daylilies there too.Its well worth going to.People seem to be friendlier at this dig too.If you need help just ask anyone there.Paulette

What side of Bham area is this plant dig? Are there directions to the Turkey Creek Landfill Plant DIg? I thought I saw a post recently on it, but couldn't find it just now. Will it be worth the drive from Central AL?

Can someone give me directions to the Landfill. We would be coming from the West on I59/20. Ditto the question, would it be worth coming from West Central AL?

These are the instructions from the Birmingham News:

From Birmingham, exit I 20/59 at Tallapoosa treet (Exit 128); take Tallapoosa Street (Al Hwy 79) to Pinson (~18 miles). Go past the entrance to Jefferson State Community College. At the intersection of Aabama 79 and Alabama 151, turn left onto Narrows Road and follow the signs to the Waste Treatment /Landfill facility. Go past the waste treatment facility and turn right into the landfill entrance (~2.1 miles from AL 79). Follow the signs to the designated parking area. I have never been to the Dig but I am thinking of going this year.

What kind of items, tools, etc, do we need to bring with us?
