mine were grown from seed indoor and have been outside for couple of weeks already but our weather while on chilly side never dropped below 40.

Thanks Linda...I guess it will work out ok. I will just have to keep my eye on the overnight temps. I could always run out and dig them up and bring them back in if it gets that cold suddenly....lol.

Even my Rhizomatous type Begonia has been outdoors in it's container for about a week now :D
Not sure what it's true name is but looks like the one in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th pics on the link below...except mine is much bigger! I started it from one single leaf 1.5 years ago :O
In cooler temps this one will grow thicker leaves....I keep it in the coolest room in the house during winter and it LOVES that. Has adapted pretty well to lower humidity so am giving it a shot outdoors....maybe I'll see flowers this year?

Nice Begonias you have there Vera. Mine are small starter plants that I just purchased. I took a chance and planted them out. I took a look at the 10 day forecast on weather.com and it was showing above 50 every night. The very next day that all changed and now they are forecasting 45 a couple of nights. Do you suppose they will survive it? Or should I be covering them with something at night?

My Sinbad is going back out next Wednesday. It was smallish last year when I bought it at HD, put it in a 1 gal pot, then late in the summer it didn't look so good, fed it, put it in a 5 gal pot, brought it in for the winter, fed it some more, give it a little Miracid half strength, not very often, and Osmocote, seems ok for now, don't know much about growing them. They will die here over winter in the ground.

That begonia is huge. I hate to do it, I have one bigger pot size, but can you then cut them back? I guess I don't see why not, it just has such a beautiful form and blooms constantly. The leaves almost look irridescent.

I tried to grow another kind from seed, too tricky, and I doubt they'd be good candidates for WSing.

I don't know the answer to that pm2...this is my first begonia ever...no take that back, I had an Angel Wing cane type, but I don't know too much about them. I bet they would know over on the Begonia forum :D
