Woody stems need a minimum of leaves to reduce transpiration and also need oxygen to the stems while making a callus and roots. Only leave 2-4 smaller leaves or trim the existing leaves to 1/2 the surface area. Add pearlite about 1/2 to your potting soil for aeration. If you have temperature control, make a humidity tent over the stems and keep the soil moist but not drowning wet.
Use water from an RO system if possible as city water with chemicals don't help the process. It will take about 6 weeks under good conditions to get roots. Don't let the roots get too long before transplanting to a good soil like super soil.

I have some luck with esperanza (yellow belles) from seed with about a 50% rate. you might try some seed too since they usually have several pods at a time. When the pods are dry and about to split, grab the little winged devils and plant is some seed mix just below the surface. Again keep damp but don't drown and keep the pot at 78 degrees or so. Usually takes about 2-3 weeks.
