Donn, how are Park's tree's and shrubs? Have you purchased from them before?

I've bought grasses and ferns from them, but this is the first time for trees. We'll see.

hhmm, I've got my eye on the Orange (not sure how to spell it) Jap Maple. DH & I tend to collect them. We have 4 now but 2 of them got badly damaged in our Easter freeze so I'm hesitent to get anymore of the dissected (sp?) leaved ones. Plus there's a nursery here in town that always puts 1 gallon pots of Maples on sale for $10 in the fall. DH & I keep going back & forth on this one though because its one were not familiar with. Seems to be a nice one.

I also keep debating about an iceberg rose & both of the clematis. I don't have anymore room though. Shouldn't Parks have a sale soon too? Maybe I'll hold out for that. I'm curious how their trees are. Bought plants & seed from Parks but never trees. Been happy so far.

They won't send me the freakin' code so that I can register! Gotta lot of great plants, I especially want that purple daylily!

I would recomend meidiland roses for anyone. It beats me why it is not most popular roses of all. Easy groundcover, they practically indestructable, do not have any diseases and grow like a weed- no special care whatsoever. They also bloom very very nicely for long season.

GGG, take a look and see if their email wound up in your junk email folder.

I have been browsing that sale for several days trying to decide whether to hit the 'submit' button or not...I caved yet again, and got 20 of the small Thuja. Hopefully they are easy to care for since I'll probably just pot them up until we decide where they should ultimately live.

I got my plants today and whoopee, they are nice. They are the biggest and nicest plants I ever got by mail! I bought one bare root but the rest are all at least 8 inches or bigger. All have lots of nice healthy stems and leaves.

I was somewhat hesitant because I have not had great luck with the Park's Garden plants I ordered last fall but these make up for it.

Sorry to sound like a commercial for Park's Wholesale but I'm pretty excited. I so rarely buy any plants but I've been wanting some "fancy" Heuchera for a while and now I have six beauties and two new Hostas.

THat's wonderful to know that the quality is so nice. I get an email yesterday that my plants were shipped so I should have mine soon.

Ditto the quality, AND the packing job. Mine arrived yesterday, in 5 huge tree-boxes, and all 9 plants were in fine shape. Kudos to Parks on the packaging. I had to remove 22 large copper staples from each box to get the trees out. You could have played football with these boxes, without damaging the trees.

Got mine as well. As people here are saying did not have good luck with Park's products in the past- plants were tiny, puny dried up. This time I wish I ordered more- those are excellent plants, well packed with good root system. Great job!

Mine arrived about 15 minutes ago. I'm quite pleased. The maple is larger than I was expecting. Great value.

My order just came! Wowsers! Thank goodness Hubs was home or I'd need a catspaw to open the boxes...those staples are massive. They stapled the shrub boxes into the large outer boxes so nothing would shift. Incredible!

It really was a terrific packing job. I just went back to last year's comments on Garden Watchdog, and updated with my impressions of this year's sale. They're getting some bad reviews right now, but they sure seemed to do right by us.

I received my order the other day and I was very pleased with everything. Carefully packed, big healthy plants, definitely well worth the price. Thanks again for posting that message Donn.

Mine came yesterday and ditto on the amount of staples - those trees were not going anywhere. I was very pleased with everything but really impressed with the size of the maples.......

I got all my planted in one marathon session and I am now officially beat. It's amazing how much improvement a garden has with the addtions of just a few small shrubs. The ones I ordered filled in the gaps and made the borders much more appealing to me.

Donn, I am grateful that you shared the links with us!

I called Park this morning to check on the status of my order. My Japanese Maples (Crimson Queen) will not ship until spring, with the nursery manager citing "quality issues".

Conversely, when placing my order I was told the Beautyberry would not ship until fall because of "quality issues". This morning I was told the Beautyberry is already on its way. Good thing I called. I don't have the bed ready. Euphemisms like "quality issues" irritate me.

Despite little aggravations over the years, I have been generally satisfied with Park's quality if not their prices over the years. The Brugmansia hubby ordered in honor of our marriage several years ago is still alive despite much neglect and abuse. In fact it bloomed this week.

Right now I'm grumpy and I'm not even sure my feelings are logical. I hope I'm as pleasantly surprised as many of you have been when the shipment arrives.

I got my order as well, and am very pleased with the shipping and quality of the 2 Jap Maples and the hydrangea.

I also ordered 2 clematis and 1 sedum. These have come all wrapped up with a label that says "I'm not dead, I'm dormant". I wasn't expecting this, and I'm not sure how to go about planting these....I ordered clematis from Bluestone, and the plant came in a pot with green leaves. I have no idea how to plant a dormant plant, and how to know if it is truly dormant and not really dead!! Any one have any suggestions? I haven't even unwrapped them yet because I can't plant until Sunday.

Specifically, I'd love to know if it will be obvious which way is up (when I plant), and how long until I should see new growth.

Thanks Donn for the link, I've been wanting to buy the maples, but locally they go for over $100, and I just couldn't afford that. These are really nice trees for only $15, and you certainly can't beat the $10 flat rate shipping.
