Help with large Musa Basjoo Corms

I need a little help, I'm new with Bananas..I just received 3 large corms that I purchased off of Ebay, and now I need to know how they should be planted...I plan on planting them in a pot inside until spring...Do I cover them completly will soil, or leave the top of the corm just above the soil line?..And do I water them when I put them in the pot...Thanks, SNC299

Hi snc and welcome, if it were me I would put them in a cool dark (non-freezing) place till spring.
When you plant, either in a pot or ground, its important that you plant them at the depth they were growing at to start with.
You can tell by looking at it closely. Good luck

Hi there, Just a question about the Basjoo corms you bought off e bay. Did the seller live in Vancover Washington??
    Thanks

Yes, they were pruchased from a seller in Vancouver, Washington...They were advertised as Banana/coconut/palm tree/christmas bulb. I take it they are basjoo's, they were quite large, one almost the size of a basketball. I ended up putting them in dry potting soil, not completly covered, they were wrapped good. I checked on one last week, it was putting on new sprouts. If there is a btter way to over-winter them, let me know....I have since ordered 15 other cold hardy banana plants....I have found one seller on ebay that has great plants, some of her plants were almost 7ft tall, I was so happy with her plants, I sent her more money for postage, she lost money on what she charged for shipping....Thanks, Merry Christmas/SCN299

Thanks for the reply to my question. I also ordered from the vancover seller, Was upset with the postage amount for only about 300 miles distance he charged me. I questioned him on the names of those he advertised and that I bought. He did not know. Sounds like to me you are doing ok with them. I have bought a lot from e bay sellers most real good. They have given me info if needed. Would like the name of seller that has the large plants if you will share it.I am using a lot of rare and unusual bananas in landsscape of 1/2 acre yard.

The name of the Ebay seller with the nice big healthy banana plants is...."bigiha".....After receiving the first plant, I was so happy with it, I have since ordered several more, she is going to keep and grow these until spring....She hasn't listed any this week, I guess because of the holidays. Some of the ones I ordered were advertised as 3ft, the first plant(Yunnan-Plant in the shade) was advertised as 3 ft, but it was much larger...

Another good seller with big healthy plants is..."hortus119"....His banana plants were in the two foot range, but the packing was absolutey great...He also has not listed any banana plants this week, probably because of the holidays...

I hope they both get extra business, good sellers deserve it.

I was just going to say Aandbtropicals, also on the web with an extra leading "a", I just got an ice cream and a grand nain yesterday from them. Beautifully packaged, beautifully healthy plants. And Brandy will combine shipping so each additional banana is only $1.50 s/h (after the first one at $6!)
