October 1st Swap

It was very nice to meet so many of you this morning. And thanks to all for the many "trades" and downright gifts. Where to plant, where to plant . . . (sigh)

you're so right- everybody is so generous that it blows me away! I planned to come home with nothing, but got a good start on a cactus/succulent garden out front instead. And way more to eat than I needed!

It was truly worth the drive to see and meet all you good people.

And what a drive it is... great to see you, Eileen, we really appreciate how long it takes to get here for you, Detrick and Stephanie (did I miss any?). And great to meet you, Zill, and your DH.

You two be sure and see Judy_B's post, too, so I don't repeat myself.

So sorry I missed it...as most of you know I care for my father who is a Hospice patient and he was doing well this am. Hope to make the next one!

We missed you Kathi! Glad you father is doing well ;)

I am sorry to hear about your father KK. I hope things will go well for you and your family.
Jill...nice to meet you and see what your green thumb looks like!!

I, too, was blown away by everyone's generosity. This was a great idea. I'm so glad that I got to meet everybody! You're all wonderful and friendly folks. To those who couldn't make it yesterday, we look forward to seeing you at another gardenweb party!

Special thanks to Pagancat for getting us the site, Garden Trolip for posting it and Jim for bringing the tent and name tags. It was fun matching names to faces but also matching gardenweb names to our "real" names.

It isn't too early to be looking around for what we can bring to the Spring Swap.

Whew! What a bonanza. I think I have everything potted up that I picked up yesterday except that great Yucca - need to buy a big clay pot. And Judy B, will the roses last a week in the bags? I need to prep the area where they will go and doubt I can get to that before the next weekend. I *really HATE* the way work takes such a big bite out of every day! Paydays sure are nice though. -- heh, heh --

I'm with Eileen, I planned to come away with nothing and have some grand new plants. Picked up three shoots of Lysiloma and will try one as a bonzai.

Thanks to all who made it work and it was good fun putting faces with names. We *should* do it again in the spring.

    Have a good week all.

Mary, I've kept roses in bags for months, just keep them out of direct sun.

You people, it's obvious that you are all addicts. Plant addicts. Not me of course. ;-)

This was a way cool way to party hearty!

I felt badly that by the time the Tucson contingent got there a lot of things had already been snagged. I was so glad to meet Detrick and Eileen FINALLY so hope they feel the trip was worth it.

Thanks to all for making it a fun morning. It was nice to be able to put faces on the names. I'm taking a lot less ribbing at the home front since I came home with my new treasures and all the cuttings gone. Everybody sick of cactus yet? I'll try to be more diverse next time. Fred sends his thanks for all the acquisitions for his hillside cactus/agave garden He thought it was really cool that so many showed up and were so generous. You all can be very proud of yourselves, he's not easey to impress. For those of you whom I didn't brow beat into taking a cutting...if you feel you missed anything, let me know and I'll make ammends. Thanks for a great time.
