OT, but fun: When do you take down your holiday decorations?

I just thought this might be a fun topic. When do you take down your holiday decorations?

My family has always had a tendency to let Christmas linger a little long in our home. My mom was particularly guilty, as she had her own tree that went in the living room (the "family" tree went in the family room - that's where we did presents). This was her tree, which she spent hours painstakingly decorating to her specific taste to match the decor of her living room. So she usually had a hard time bringing herself to undress it and put everything away. The record, however, was when one year my dad drove past the house with his boss in the car, and they both looked up at the big picture window to see Mom's glorious Victorian rose-pink and white trimmed tree, all alight in shimmering white lights - in APRIL. Dad's boss commented, "Y'all still celebrating Christmas?" My dad retorted, "Yeah, my wife's a little late this year putting the tree away." He came home that evening and told her, "Honey, it's time to take down the Christmas tree. It's almost Easter."

How about y'all? What's the longest any of you have left up your Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanza or other year-end holiday decorations?

This year my wife said on Xmas day,
"Tomorrow, you get that dried up thing out of my house,
or ther'll be hell to pay."

I'm inclined to obey.

lol, 2 days ago. Its usually pyt away January 2nd, but its been crazy busy lately.

Hi...we always have a real tree, so we don't put it up until a week or so before christmas and it stays for the 12 days of christmas.....but my villiage stays up a while longer.....linda

When I was married my husband was in charge of outdoor decorations. We both were shift workers then at the same plant so it was natural for one of us to come home at 11 pm. I figured it was finally time to take down the front decorations as we were heavy decorators. Nothing left unturned in out yard. So when he was due in at 11 one night I had the whole outdoors lit up. Every light on. Everything moving. He unplugged it. Next night same thing He came home to Vegas lights. He showed me. Removed the extension cord. Ha I am an electrician. After the third night they were down. He is gone now. Kinda miss messing with him. Paula

My boyfriend got a note on his door from apartment management a few days ago that his porch decorations need to come down. We live in different cities and I won't be back for another 2 weeks to help take them down. So to answer your question...2 weeks from now.

My dog has a stuffed Santa toy out that she's still been playing with regularly. She's not big on appearances.

Mine are still up and will be until at least the end of January (end of February is the latest I've done). I see no reason to hurry Christmas out the door -- especially as the rest of the winter months are so colorless.
