Freezing my ____ off

Nose, guys, nose! It's eight degrees out with wind chill at -13 C. Expecting wind chill temps of -20 to -40 C tonight.

I trudged through a couple of snowbanks to put my ws jugs in the veg bed.

Can't put them around the house this year.

To celebrate solstice I sowed:

Rudbeckia burpeii

Asclepia 'Ice Ballet'

Hellebore 'Niger'

Antriscus sylvestris 'Raven Wing'

Kolkwitzia ambalis Beauty Bush, flowering quince

I think I'm done until February.

It's 10 degrees here now, 20-30 mph winds, wind chill -8. Sure wish I didn't have to go to work at 6:30 a.m.

We had blizzard warnings until 6 tonight, wind chill warnings now, and a high of 3 degrees (4 degrees tomorrow). I can't wait to see what January brings!

It's -3F this morning wind chill -30F when hubby and I went for a walk ----at the mall --- not in that cold.
We haven't had it this cold this early in years. I should have sown some seeds. Will start tomorrow. :-)

How come it's colder here today than in MN????

It's 35 here tonight. That's the coldest it's been in 2 weeks. Supposed to get down into the 20s. Yesterday it was 68. Next week we'll be back in the upper 60s and more rain.

Awe token... I feel your pain! It's too darn cold for you out there in ZONE SEVEN! ;)

It's +2F here right now. It broke the negative numbers around 8:30am. Froze my bootie off but I sowed some catnip for my fur-babies... they're even cold today, one of them is hiding under the covers in my bed!

It was 21 when I got up. It's supposed to be 18 tonight. Why won't one of you check to see if the door to Canada is open? Please close it. We're freezing down here.

Boo hoo! I'm crying for Token and everyone else in zone 7! LOL

It's 5 degrees F here and clear and sunny. At least it's not going to be windy today. New England boasts the coldest temperature in the US right now (-18F Whitefield, NH). Thank god I don't live there!

So far in December - a major ice storm, 3 snow storms, and freezing cold windy conditions. Approx 20 inches of snow on the ground. Been up on the roof 3 times already shoveling and the ice dams are still building up. I am ready to move south! Brrrrr and grrrrr.....

terrene, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's not going to get much better.

    Farmer's Almanac Forecast

Brisk. 18 is not BRISK. 18 IS COLD!

I do pity you guys though. One year it got down to the single digits here for over a week. I was in college and skipped a lot of classes during those 5 days.

Awe crap! Here's what it has to say about the Midwest:
With below-normal winter temperatures and an above-normal precipitation forecast, the Great Lakes and Midwest will see above-normal snowfalls, especially during January and February.

Token, right now 18 would be a heatwave!

Did anyone catch the Bears vs Packers? Bunch of nutcases out there with no shirts on!

It's fluctuating between 24 and 25 this morning. My hoop house got into the 70s yesterday.

Of course Nancy your guys beat our guys. Yes we seen them idiot kids. They are lucky their nipples did not fall off. Roads closed here just a little north of you. Snowing like a dickens. I dont ever remeber it being this bad. Stay safe..Barb

You stay warm and safe as well, Barb! I don't ever remember it getting like this in the 16 years I've lived up here!

There have been a few roads shut down in the past few days around here. It's gotten crazy! I am so thankful to live just down the way from a Sam's Club and a Walmart! Didn't plan to shop there, but what the hey.... any port in a storm, huh?

LOL Closest store is in town and dinky. I couldnt drive in. But There is a snowmobile in the garage never been driven. Ah making egg salad yummy

18, oh I dream of the day we see 18 again.
Woke up yesterday to -16 (that was the actual temp) I don't even want to know what the windchill was.

Oh well, more time to cozy up and look through my seed catalogs. Now if the sun would just come out I bet my greenhouse would get up to 80, then I could go sit out there for a bit.

from Arkansas zone 8.....Brrrrr! Last Fri. it was 70 something...Sat. it dropped to mid-60's then the bottom really fell out for the next two-three days at lo-mid 30's. There was ice yesterday but when I opened the door to let the furbabies out for morning tee-tee...it's warm again and it's only 4:00am.

'Round here if someone don't like the weather...."wait a minute"

I'm starting some serious WGing after Christmas. I'm waaayyy behind scehdule.

Mother nature must be confused. When I went to work Monday and Tuesday it was 3 degrees. Now, 48 hours later, it's 46 degrees, supposed to get to the 60s by Saturday.

My son's first 2 scheduled flights out of Seattle were cancelled for heavy snow, strong winds. There were roads closed due to blizzard conditions. All this for an area that never gets snow. Fortunately, he finally got home for Christmas on Monday night.

    Mother nature is definitely confused.

Mother nature is bipolar. It's warmer this morning than when I went to bed. The bird bath has thawed. The clouds are rolling in. The cat won't get off my lap.

Mother Nature IS bi-polar! On top of my cold frame, I have half of it dripping water and the other half covered in snow! (Actually, it's the half closest to the building that's wet.) Sure looks strange out there this morning!

We have a couple inches of new snow and huge flakes coming down. It's going to be tough driving!

If Ma Nature is bipolar her disease is getting worse. After that 3F temp and -20 wind chill a few days ago, we're supposed to hit 70 today. I put some coleus cuttings and a poinsettia out on the porch this a.m. and it was 60 degrees then.

    Karen

Same here Karen, not 70 tho, I think 60's. Xmas day was below zero with wind chill and now we have flash flood warnings. Rain thunderstorms and TONS of snow melting off.

Bipolar-you aint kidding!!!! Somebody seed the clouds with Lithium, or whatever they're treating BiP with these days.

We're holding steady in the mid 40s today. Cloudy and scattered showers. I had hoped to do some work outside today, but that ain't gonna happen now. At least I got some shrubs planted yesterday for my woodland border.
