I've rerooted both Aloe dichotoma and Aloe ramossissima. I made a straight across cut. The roots actually start forming on the cut line. The rooting won't take place until September. I know this from constantly checking an Aloe dichotoma which I had to cut from root rot in January. It wasn't until September that it started showing roots. I didn't water it at all until it rooted (learned that the hard way). It did become slightly dessicated in the meantime.

I think probably A. pillansii responds the same way. I've seen pics of both A. pillansii and A. dichotoma in the same environment. You'd think there would be natural hybrids--are there?
