CA native Plants

Mike Craib from Suncrest Nursery will be giving a talk and handouts on CA native plants at Payless Nursery in San Jose on March 8 at 11am.

If you've ever thought about incorporating drought-tolerant or native plants into your garden, please attend this workshop as it promises to be informative.

CA native plants attract local insects and wildlife and need low water usage and maintenance.

The seminar is free and takes very little of your time, plus if you come, I won't be laughed at for a year, and I get to keep the native section.

Please help me!!!!!!! and learn something to boot

I wish it could go! It would cost me more in gas than to pay for a class at Theodore Payne down here.
I was educating some neighbors just recently about a new area they have. I mentioned natives they said they don't want cacti. I gave them a lecture!!

Yes, it would be a nice trip to take. I am sorry I cannot go either; we are featuring several guests who speak about Native Plants and Water Wise Gardening in our local garden club. They are important concepts nowadays.

    I will be there!

I will be there, too. I hope the native plant section at the nursery stays and grows! I am a regular customer.

Hahaha! Good for you, gobluedjm! I haven't heard people use the word 'cactus' yet, but then I'm not in So. Cal. Around here, people say 'weeds'. They're usually sorry because it always starts a lecture. LOL

Arvind and Diane, you know your support is much appreciated.
I don't expect anyone to make a trip from So. Cal, but you might mention to your local nursery that Mike would probably be able to do a talk for them since he does travel there in his sales route.

Mike graduated from Cal Poly. I'm not exactly sure of his degree, but it's either horticulture or some kind of environmental science. He has long been interested in and worked with native plants. He worked at Las Pilitas nursery, is/was on the board of Cal Hort and has been with Suncrest for several years.
He is a fascinating person with what often seems unlimited knowledge in the realm of not just natives, but all plants as well as many other subjects.

If you are in the area and can't make it, please spread the word to anyone that may be interested.

    Wanda,

Have you visited the Overfelt Gardens Native Plant and Wildlife sanctuary in San Jose?

I guess it's easy to miss as in the 20+ years that I was a San Jose resident, I never once visited it.
