i am stupid! stupid! stupid!

I've been so frazzled lately, what with my surgery and my friend moving down (ex friend, but you can go to TKT to see that story), I just didn't know my right from my left or up from down.

I was fertilizing my bananas the other day with lawn fertilizer (they love nitrogen) and for some STUPID reason, I thought I'd throw some on the brugs.

WHAT WAS I THINKING? No, I wasn't thinking at all. So now the leaves are coming out all burned on the edges. I know they'll grow out of it, but AAAAAAAGH! I had cut back my Ecuador Pink all the way to the trunk, and it had two really beautiful healthy shoots coming out of the bottom trunk. I was going to leave one and let the other one grow into a tree. Now the leaves are all burnt.

The moral of this story is DO NOT go near your brugs with lawn fertilizer! End of rant.

Oops! At least they will grow back normally soon though I would flush them well with lots of water.

OH NO!!! I'm with Karyn flush them... I bet the Banana's are happy tho...LOL

Are these in the ground or in pots?? Flush if in the ground. Repot with different soil if they are in pots and hope for the best. Lesson learned and you are not stupid!
See folks you can over fertilize and stress them totally out.

They are in the ground. I've already flushed, and flushed, and flushed. We've had no rain, so my plan is to water daily to flush it out. Problem is, it's time release! I've scraped as much from around the plant as I can.

I'm so angry at myself, because I know better.

And yes, the bananas are happy...it's me that's unhappy. This is why I didn't plant the bananas and brugs together!

Don't flush to much as they hate to be really wet. Best of luck.

HA! Karma, believe me, they won't be really wet. This sandy soil dries out so fast, I could water every day and they would be fine.

I'm not watering for a couple of days, though. I think they've flushed enough.
