I don't believe we have that butterfly in North America. It's very pretty.

I was worried about how the video with your cat might end. I'm glad he didn't eat it. I had a close call with my cat once too and leared to keep the door shut where I had butterflies emerging. He wasn't bothering them at all until he saw some wings fluttering and that's just too tempting for a cat.

Yes, it's very pretty.

It's quite surprising that my naughty cat's bite didn't hurt the butterfly's wings. That is, the butterfly in the video completed the eclosion successfully and flied away through an open window. :)

It seems that Papilio demoleus libanius is quite common in southeastern Asia. It's an pleasant unexpected guest, especially when the mother must fly to 7F to lay eggs. :)

I love my cat but watched her catch and start chomping a freshly eclosed Painted lady in the back garden one day. Insects are a natural part of their diet but that bothered me. I'm glad your cat backed off, and surely the butterfly relieved too.
