Oh Laura! So fortunate are they to have you!!!

We may be looking for a 'mouser' soon. Our 14 year old is not eating well, and had lost quite a bit of weight. We found Minnie on a sidewalk in Halifax in mid-February on a day when the temperature was -27C!! She was but a kitten!

My daughter wants a kitten, but I'd like an adult cat - the colour of Taz!! He's soooo cute!

You are such a rich person!

Tiffy .. there are so many kittens out there this year .. I just cant believe it. But if you really want to give someone a chance in life .. adopt an older cat. Many are put to sleep because kittens are so cute and the shelters run out of room for everyone. Or they become ill due to over crowding. Dont purchase one at a pet store!!! The shelters have so many.

I personally have 7 cats of my own .. three of whom I have raised since they were only a few days old. But the rest have been rejects from the shelters .. older cats who no one wanted. They all get along no matter their age .. they just need time to introduce themselves to other pets. I tend to have a soft spot for the underdogs so many of my cats have had issues. One of them named Mouse was a wild cat that was found in the bush in Northern Ontario .. a hunter found and trapped him .. he is so beautiful. He actually is a purbred Ragdoll.

Mouse is the cat in the back of the photo .. Meshoo is also a stray Ragdoll .. they have the best personalities .. so calm and regal. All they want to do is love you!!

I have a crippled cat .. and actually I named the kitten after him .. Taz senior is now 17 years old and doing well. I hand raised him as a foster kitten. Then he developed issues with his balance. The shelter wanted to put him to sleep but I was having none of that .. so I took off with him :o) I never did foster for that shelter again :o) If they had put him to sleep I would never have found my best friend .. I just love him to death!!! He is mommys boy. Its odd how I have such a strong bond with him .. I have had many cats but none like this little man. He is my world .. odd .. but true.

Fostering any animal is truely a labour of love and boarders on insanity :o) Since April I have been up every two hours feeding and stimulating kittens .. thank god I dont sleep well to begin with :o) A friend of mine adopted one of my kittens this year .. guess what .. he gets her up at 5 am to feed him :o) He got into a routine when he was little and because I have had so many little guys this year .. he use to get up with me at feeding time ... he would even wake me up if I missed the alarm by pushing his head into my face :o) Poor Debbie .. I hope he has out grown that bad habit :o)

Well I am off to feed the new zoo crew .. they are so cute :o)

Oh man, is that peanut too cute! I'm glad your mum is taking her - it'll be good for your mum, and you'll get to keep tabs on the cutie. Is she otherwise healthy?

I must admit Wiggie and Taz Jr. tugged the awwww cute strings in a big way! I'm such a softie when it comes to orange tabbies!

I must say that Tilly and Boo are gorgeous. I have a thing for long haired cats (my own persian cross is a strange pinkish orange colour), and their markings are beautiful!

Laura you are an angel to look after those kitties.

I know what you mean about certain animals who just touch your heart, there is some kind of bond there that cannot be broken. I have a cat and a new puppy who both have my heart in their paws.

Tiffy go to the SPCA and look at all the cats there, i am sure there will be one or two who will get your attention. I was looking for a dog and kept walking by the cats and wanted everyone I saw. No, I didn't get one only because I just got a new puppy and didn't want to not have time for both, plus I already have two cats.

Laura you have my admiration for doing such a great job with those cats. If I were home during the day I think I would like to do something like that, but duty calls and I am unable to do it. Those ragdoll cats are soooooooo gorgeous. I love all the others you posted too, especially those little ginger colored guys. Oh my we would be in big trouble if you were my neighbor, i am afraid my hubby would be having fits with all the extra kitties I would help you babysit. LOL

Keep up the good work, you are an angel.

    Laura,
Just thought I'd update you on our adoption.
I went to the SPCA this week and fell in love with a 'snowshoe' cat. Huge beautiful cat.

But today when I went to adopt, we discovered he doesn't like to be picked-up, and had it been just me, I would have taken him. But when you have a child, having a cat one can pick-up and handle a bit is important.

Our daughter came around the corner with a kitten in hand, and I started falling in love with it! She's a tabby with medium hair, and she has double paws or what is commonly known in Nova Scotia as a 'true mouser' or 'barnyard cat'. She has seven toes on her front paws and often overlaps them when walking. LOL!!

We have yet to decide on a name... oh, I've just been informed that it's Annie.

She's hissing at the dogs and our old cat, but we all know that in a week, they'll all love each other!

Too bad the big guy didnt work out .. but I would agree that with little ones .. it is important that they can tolerate being held :o)

Annie sound like she will fit in just fine with your family .. it always takes a few days :o) The extra toe is called polydactal .. I think I spelt that right .. they are also refered to has Hemmingway Cats. All of the cats on the Hemmingway estate have the extra toes too :o) My big ragdoll Mouse has extra toes too .. we had him declawed as he was unable to retract some of his extra nails.

Good luck with the new baby!!

    Laura
