I give up. I have found several references for the same viruses that spybot found and tried to destroy but it did it again before I could stop it. Here is something else I found about this error so it is beyond my fixing. If anyone knows how to do this email me please.

The DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER bug check has a value of 0x000000F7. This indicates that a driver has overrun a stack-based buffer.
Parameters

A driver overran a stack-based buffer (or local variable) in a way that would have overwritten the function's return address and jumped back to an arbitrary address when the function returned.

This is the classic "buffer overrun" hacking attack. The system has been brought down to prevent a malicious user from gaining complete control of it.
Resolving the Problem

Use the KB (Display Stack Backtrace) debugger command to get a stack trace.

The last routine on the stack before the buffer overrun handlers and bug check call is the one that overran its local variable.

Generally this is a bad driver causing this type of error. Check to see in what programs you are getting this error. Also take a look in your event viewer for any problems. You just need to trace this down to what software is causing the problem.

I hope you find your answer to the BSOD. Usually the best help I have found has been in the XP Group and now Vista.

If there is nothing important reinstall xp. Takes about an hour and it will run like new again. You will spend much more time trying to clean the crapware off of it. Go to download.com and intall the free version of avg antivirus as soon as it is up and running.

Kids go to a lot of sites we know better than to go to. Downloading is rampant. So are viruses and trojans. It will be a good learning experience for her. Every kid should learn to reinstall an operating system or learn to protect it. IMHO

Lol, I tried but the disk I have here for XP is an older version and it wouldn't do it. I can only start in safe mode as well. I have to see if I have the right disk at the shop. I had AVG on there but it said the free version is no longer available. Maybe I downloaded the wrong one since it said it was a limited trial version. That is one nasty thing. Evertime you get into something that might stop it the thing reboots and goes back to the blue screen before you can finish. I can't even go online with it. She loves cartoons and I saw she had downloaded some pics and was trying to watch a video when it happened so I am sure it tricked her into downloading it. I guess she will learn what I meant when I said don't download ANYTHING now that she will be without a computer for a while, lol. My head hurts.

You do not want to repair just a clean install. Xp should run. Some manufactured systems have control bits that prevent non original software it is looking to the current operating system.

Sometimes you need to go into bios and take the hard drive out of the bootable sequence. Sorry but there is not way without getting very technical. You are not going to break it. It is already broke. LOL I bet she can fix it.

Thanks Jim, I'll mess with it some more this weekend. I'm going fishing now. I had nightmares about viruses and computer language all night, lol. I have the software somewhere for this machine and thats exactly what I will do let her sit and load everything, lol.

I have zero knowledge of computers but do know that DH has had to reinstall AOL. He uses an old disc and just runs an update online once it has been reinstalled. Good luck.

Now, is it a Dell? Or something else? If it is a dell (recent - within the last couple years) there is a symatec partition that can be restored back to factory delivery state.

But I won't know until I talk to you.

It is a Dell Latitude D610 with XP home edition right now. I can't remember how to get to the reformat thing so I will wait on you to call me back.
