What is up with my Cordyline?

I've noticed the last couple of weeks my cordyline leaves looking either dry or something. It gets daily 7am watering and it's been fine all summer. Usually the lowest leaves you would think are the ones to do this once they're old and done. It just seems to have moved up quickly. Is it too much water or is it just a phase it goes through? I thought these were pretty drought tolerant and dont need all the extra fertilzing etc. Then I also read that they don't like to be dry in between waterings. I'm So.Cal zone 9 (Pomona/Claremont/Montclair area), so you know we're pretty warm!

Here are some pictures:

Thanks all who can offer help!
