Congrats on gettng a GH! I would say the first thing to consider is space. How many plants are you planning to put in it? I would also look at how much usable space it has.
I had a 15'x20' and it was a good size. Then I would consider what it is made of. How sturdy & durable will it be? You will need to figure out if you want electricity and water run to it. I see it has a vent but you will probably need more than that one. I like a door on both ends especially in the summer. Of course there are all the things that go with a GH, Shade cloth, heater, mister, thermostat, fans?, more shelves & more I can't think of right now. You will be surprised how fast it fills up. Another thing to consider is if you want one large GH or maybe a couple of smaller ones.

You'll love it. I use ACF for grow lights. Check around before you buy anything. Have you asked any questions on the greenhouse forum? Look thru the posts for recommendations.

Edna has a really nice GH but it was expensive. The cheaper ones can be good but they do require some modifications depending on the kind of weather you get. It doesn't get too cold in the winter by you does it? Wind can be your main concern with the less expensive GH's. I bought an inexpensive GH for the backyard and by the time we were done with the modifications it doubled the cost. If we hadn't added them it would have blown away in one of the bad storms we had last year. Remember my hoophouse ending up in the pool. lol Granted those were 60+ mph winds but the same thing would have happened to the GH w/o the modifications. We found instructions for modifications on the greenhouse forum.

I got all my benches, shelves, auto vent openers and exhaust fans for the backyard GH from Growers Supply but once again check around.

Karyn thank you so much. I will check around. I learned that much. It is suppose to last a while. I saw how much Kristy had to add and add to make it resisting weather etc and it got into the money a lot. So that is why I am NOT going to build one myself lol

Lucy it's not just the GH's that you build yourself that require the modifications. Pretty much all the lower priced ones (say under $2000 for a 10 x 12) that need them. A really good GH that size right out of the box (so to speak) starts around $4000 but with modifications you can make the cheaper ones just as good. Unless you have a company build it for you you are going to have to put it together. I guess you could find one prefab and have it delivered intact but that would probably cost an arm and a leg. The small pop ups don't really require much assembly but even the hoop houses take a few hours to put up.

Here's the modifications that the HFGH required and it's pretty similar to all the other lower priced GH's that size though I'd hope that not all had instructions as screwed up as HF. You might want to see if they still have any available unless you are going to invest in a really good one because they were dirt cheap. Granted the modifications doubled the cost but it was still a lot less then comparable GH's.

thank you again. I just looked at that link. What a beautiful GH the way he build it. I guess I was dreaming..me by myself building a GH :-( Either the neighbor's SIL will help me when he moves here. Or I have to wait till Brian gets back from Iray that he is not even gone to yet.

Still have not looked at the coupon link...I found one there included in the thread...but it had expired. Now they showed a 20% one for any Item.

But I got so much information that I can put it all together. Maybe I just buy it now and wait to build it till I get help. That way I can buy the modification things over time. hmmm

If you find a good deal I'd go for it. They come boxed and can be easily stored in the garage. I couldn't have put it together myself but 2 people can get it done in a reasonable amount of time. We paid the guys that work at the farm to put it up. DH figured he could just let them do it but with all the modifications he had to help.

I will. Timing is everything lol I will hang out and read a lot at the GH forum.

Lucy if you decide to go this way.. Al and I are here to help too... We are going on building number three for a master gardener here... Sherrie is wonderful! (mudhouse) We built ours together along with a few others on the net..It was great fun checking in every day with each other... There are so many on the greenhouse forum ready to help too :)
