Joss, look in local telephone books all around the area, the cities north and south East and West of Fort Lauderdale area, that is what my husband and I did to find what we were looking for. Call and ask what they have in stock. Who can they recommend if they don't have what you want. Ask what cactus is native to where you live.

There's a good one in Sarasota, but I don't know how far that is from F.L. - I'm too lazy to look. Anyway, it's Tropiflora, and if you like caudiciform plants, it's a great place to go. Of course, if you go there, you can also go to the Selby Botanical Gardens and the Ringling Museum, so it's a trifecta of benefits.

Tropiflora has a little of everything--succulents and lots of bromeliads. If you like bromeliads, it's worth another half hour drive south to Michael's Bromeliads. Smaller, but he has some amazing bromeliads. And after that you'll definitely like broms!

Thanks for answering. Yes, I've been to Tropiflora several times when I lived a little further North, but now its too far to drive, 3 hours each way. I'm looking for "tree Aloe" types now and they didn't carry too much in that area from what I remember. As for the phone book, many times I'm not prepared with exact names, I just wait until something catches my eye. Usually between asking here and on Craig's List, someone has gone through the hunt before and can recommend a place. Thanks again! Joss
