Hot informatoin right off the press. email address

I was looking for information retgarding 'Jade' 'Hummel's Sunset' For those of you who are still looking for it. I found some at K & L actus and Succulent Nursery. I called and asked her to send me her catalogue of what is available, and low and behold she has 'Hummel's Sunset' she only ships in the U.S. I also asked for her phone number and she said she would email me her email address for us. I needed to know what Opuntia she had, I have a friend that has gone nuts over them. I can't quote her prices, I don't know what she has left in stock. Will see, I am allowed to give out her phone number but not on the forum. caution: it is not worth more than $6.00 tops Email address obtained. klcactus@twinwolf.net

Good Luck, all who are seeking. Norma

Hey guys-- anyone try to contact this nursery? I sent an email right after this was posted (thanks, Norma), but have to hear back.

And speaking of 'Waves', Norma, I found that plant all the way up here in WA but didn't buy it! Kicking myself for that one. Grabbed a couple hard, but broken leaves. No luck on rooting so far, and they're going soft. Oh well.

But! Good news to any Aussies (if you're here). Currently out of stock, but growing more... Waves, Hummel's Sunset, and other neat Crassula varieties in the link I've attached. Good site. I'm jealous :)

Wish me luck on my search.

    Gray,
Norma just posted the email address yesterday - it's the weekend and I doubt they are processing those requests on Saturday before the 4th :). Let us know when you hear a response. I'm holding off from buying anything that needs to be shipped because I'm expecting to move soon.

She is a sweet old lady and can use all the help she can get. I hope she sends decent size pieces for the money. She is on Social Security like I am. I try to help her when I can. Norma

Norma, after you posted this I got in touch with her (I caution to publish her name). I was doing some traveling so contact between us was somewhat slow, but I ended up purchasing a very well-rooted 18' Hummel's Sunset. I was hoping to get my hands on a cutting and didn't expect to find something of the maturity available. It was $18.00. A bargain. I would have never found one of this size here and they're going for higher prices elsewhere online, so needless to say I feel very lucky. So thanks, Norma, for locating a source and kindly passing along her information. I received the plant today and it looks great.

To those of you who are looking for a HS, I don't know if she has any more larger plants, but she did tell me she sold HS cutting for $0.75. I would assume those are unrooted at such a low, low price.

My new Hummel's Sunset has two trunks.(I've included a link with a picture of it). I would like to separate these. They connect right at the soil line.

    1) I'm concerned about cutting them in half and letting the 'wounds' callous over, because it's already been bare-root for a week and I'd like to plant it ASAP.

    2) I'm concerned about cutting them in half in fear both plants will not heal properly/rot, since this won't be a relatively clean operation like pruning.

    3) I've considered leaving all the roots with the dominate trunk, cutting the other half off above the soil line (so I could plant the rooted one immediately), and just trying to root the whacked off trunk in some grit. But I have trouble rooting leaves in this climate and really want to save both trunks.

Any help would be very much appreciated! I know this information is all over these forums, and I looked for quite a while, but sometimes the specifics you need are buried in some seemingly unrelated thread. Thanks everyone.

Put the cut off piece in low light, indirect sun, partial shade, I think I am saying all the say thing, don't lay it down, the leaves will grow up towards the sun, it is best to put into and empty pot no soil, upright until you see the roots look like a brush, I think they are pink? Don't be in a hurry to pot. If the leaves wrinkle that is okay they will plump up as soon as it is safe to water, it must be safe before you give it any water. Norma

Thank you, newnie! Like I said, I'm very happy.

Norma, thanks for the advice + everything else :) So are you suggesting that trying to separate the trunks (and therefore keeping roots attached to both) is a bad idea? I'm SO nervous about rooting cuttings. Here's why: I pruned my big jade just a few days ago and picked out a few branches I wanted to root. I researched on the forums here before doing so. I cut right below the node I wanted to keep, and the cutoff node started drying up almost immediately, but the rest of the trunk looked/felt solid. So that looked "right". A few days later? ALL parts of the cuttings are drying out. They are all going soft, working its way up the trunk, even the woody braches! Not just the leaves. And after three days? Out of the sun. Out of the heat. I don't get it. I'm very saddened by this. I don't know what to do with them. For reference, the cuttings ranged from the thickness of a pencil to about twice that volume.

... As a result I'm nervous to risk losing such a nice cutting of the Hummel's I've looked so hard for. Any idea what I might have done wrong with my cuttings? The only thing I can think of is that I plucked a lot of leaves, and maybe that created wounds for water to escape from? Should I leave the plant with all its foliage? Thank you guys for the help! I'd be lost.
