Hello!

Although this thread is a little older, i have one question please: I have bought a P. mugo 'Flaming' in 2013, in Poland, at the nursery darob.pl... As coincidence wants, i got a graft with a completely green scion on it. And green it is still today, four years later (no, i didn't chop off the scion, instead of the upper part of the rootstock!)... Is there any slightest chance, that this plant can develop variegated twigs in future, or is it simply worm food for the compost pile?!? Or, at least, a new rootstock for another grafting?!?

Well, the DNA for variegation should still be there but how recessive it is would be the question. After four years I would have thought you'd see some by now. So to answer your question, yes, there is the slightest chance you may still see it.

Lilly, you said you like the green rug and blue chair. Keep what You like! The sling chair looks good in there also, infront of the window. Bring the blue into it with a pillow on the chair. Your original colorful picture would punch it up, if you would rather go there than the softer one with the green frams. Do what feels best for you. You cAn always change out the artwork seasonally once you have yourbasic furniture in place. Have fun.

@CHLOEBUD and @PRINTESA--- I have Le Creuset from 35+ years ago and still going strong! I don't like the newer stuff so I snap up what I can find of the old at sales etc. IF it is REALLY cruddy--oven cleaner. I got a whole SET inc the big stew pot the small stew pot and several handled pieces and lids for $10 at a sale--the color was grey which didn't thrill me but my son was HAPPY to have them! I have two of the large stew pots--one I got for 50 CENTS at a fund raiser sale as it was deemed too cruddy to sell. It has raised "grill" lines on the bottom--I have never seen another one like it. All of the ones I have kept are flame. My son has an odd assortment of whatever mom found at sales over the years--I had a cedar chest I filled with this stuff for my kids. Just be aware---if you drop them--they can crack. Don't ask how I know this! And yes the Co did replace the pot. I recently picked up a vintage classic Dansk red enamel rectangular baker that I thought I might sell. My daughter didn't realize that and used it and we liked it a lot and it fits in my convection oven when little ELSE does apparently! Guess we are keeping that! The LAST thing I need is to go buy MORE cookware!!!!! But few things I own FIT in that oven! Excuses, excuses!!!!!!

I'd like to have an attractive edible front garden that produces lots of organic food. I'd include fruit and nut trees, perennials, herbs, raised beds for salads, and fruiting climbers on trellises and as bowers, with wood bark paths or old brick paving with mosaic seating. There'd be a strip out front near the footpath that invites the public to help themselves to herbs and edible wild plants (all labeled with their names). If I couldn't look after this productive garden by myself, I'd employ a local organic farmer to plant and maintain it as a pretty urban farm and share the harvest with her/him (as well as with neighbours). Not only would this front garden be much nicer than massive lawns, it would save a lot on lawn-care costs and contribute to the household food budget with super-fresh organic food.

What is the budget range you have in mind? Are you planning to sell next year or stay a few years? I would touch up the white paint on the fascia board while making plans for other changes. Hiring a professional landscape architect could make a huge improvement to the overall appearance. They can address the wrong-scale conifer and the cracked concrete on the driveway.

sure.. maybe it will ... maybe even the slightest chance ...

but i wouldnt wait around for it ... if i needed the spot or the space ...

Thanks for the replies.

No, Ken, it's not like your pungens- example. I 'm asides of the mini coniferes a heavily maniac in variegated plants. So i think, 'Flaming' is one of those segregational chimaeras, on which variably variegated, full green and full white shoots can appear, which overally stay at their "chosen" color for all coming future. At least in deciduous plants- and because these specific mutation is so rare in conifers, I do not know exactly whether it is exactly the same, and if i can expect the same behaviour as in decidous shrubs...

Experiences with a similar, self-found norway spruce mutation suggest that, but I am not sure whether it is exactly the same with conifers. If so, this specific 'Flaming' will never get colorful shoots. I need the place not that urgent, so i will give it a last try in 2018, but if it stays the way it is, i'll replace it. Maybe with a recent graft i did with a scion of a (in the same way, underlining my assumptions of behaviour like deciduous plants) variegated scotch pine, if it succeeds.
