When is the latest I can cut back all of my clems? Want to avoid

HI all!

When is the latest I can cut back my clematis (Group 2 and 3)? I would prefer to not have to see the barren canes and twigs over the winter. I'd like to cut them back as late as possible, before they put on too much new growth. My first frost is in November.

Although many experts say that late winter is the proper pruning time, I have heard of a few experts who prune back in the fall with no problems. I would suggest pruning back after a killer frost when the plant goes into dormancy.
