    Laura,

Great pics! Is that you among the leaves? You know, in your spare time, you can make some sisal rope out of them....

Yes, I can confirm that that is snow in those fronds (because we have so many outdoor palms here, don't you know). And I've long wanted to hug an Agave but haven't yet figured out the point to it.

Haha...the point to it! Good one, Jeff ;)

Nice pics, Laura! One of my friends, the Virginian, allowed me to dig up a couple
of the Agaves on his dad's property. This is one that I couldn't fit my shovel under....

Who's that cute face poking out of those pointy leaves?

Laura: Where did you get that agave in the pot? It has such a beauty about it and the color is fantastic..If you can find a pup like that, you know where to find me.:-)
    I love it!
That picture with snow is just beautiful too..It makes me want to find some type of palm that can withstand my weather..Humm.
Thank you for sharing all this with us..

Josh: I WISH I could see the pictures linked again..I will just have to wait until I am home and enjoy...Thank you!

    Hello Everyone...

Cactusmcharris...yes, that is me behind that huge Agave!!!
We were on vacation down on the Outer Banks fishing that day...I really didn't want to post a pic of myself...but I wanted to show the size of the Agave!!! "Great Hair day after boating all day!!!" LOL... I know you have many palms up in your area (Kamloops) : ) beacuase I have passed through your area several years ago on my way from Banff to Canum Lake near 100 mile house!!! Beautiful area...lots of snow, but missing the palms!!!
If you ever get the urge to hug an Agave...make sure the points have been removed!!! LOL...or else you will have natural piercings all over...this is a plant that demands respect!!! That's why I had to give this "Mac Daddy" a small hug!!! It has to be the biggest one that I have ever seen growing close in my area...

Hello Josh...That is one beauty of an Agave!!! You are very lucky to have a friend that would let you dig up a beauty like that!!! Great find!! You must have been thrilled!!! How is it doing now? Thanks for all of your help...

Hi Mike!!! That AGave came from a friend of mine that is no longer here with us...so it is very special to me...I call it "My Jack Plant" A coworker of mine had it growing in PA and sent me a pup to grow...It has taken off and loves the climate here in VB. I really need to plant it in the ground because it is so root bound, but I am afraid of losing it...hopefully next spring I will plant it somewhere in my back yard...my son gets very tired of moving it around for me...like I said to catsusmcharris..you get pierced all the time!! I use fingernail clippers to trim the points off of mine!!!
Yes, that is my mug peeking through the leaves of that beautiful Agave...

    Take care everyone!!!

Hi Laura! Wow, that is one ginormous Agave. It looks like something from prehistoric times! And you know I never get tired of looking at your palms covered in snow! Also that's a very nice and healthy Agave in your backyard.

Josh - your first Agave is admittedly large as well! Your winters must be pretty mild?

Hello Mike and Cactusmcharris! ( :

    -Bo

p.s Laura, your package is in the mail. It should arrive Dec. 1st?

Laura, the Agave that I dug is in a pot now and has fully recovered....
in fact, I think it has sent roots into the ground! I think I should get an update pic ;)

Bo, yeah I'd consider our winters mild. We get a little bit of snow, and a few nights where
the temperatures drop below 20ðF, but that's the worst of it. It's 32ðF out now.

    Josh,

Do you leave it outside? or do you bring it in when it gets really cold?

Mine is still outside here in VB...we did have a frost last night...but it's fine...but I will bring it in when I get home. I am pushing it a little... to close for my comfort!!!

I love your thread Josh...Your babies have probably really grown alot since then. Please update your pic...I would love to see it!!! That pic of Davids is just to huge!!! All I vas thinking about is how much Tequilla it could make!!! LOL...

    Take care everyone!!!

    Tequila! Ha!

Yeah, I leave mine outside. These grow locally at elevations of 2500 feet or higher.
    I think they're hardy.

I'll get a pic later today!

    Laura:

The photo of the palms in snow is fabulous! I envy your climate, which is very unlike New Hampshire's.

Is your Agave taken indoors for the winter? If so, where do you find room? I believe Agave americana is not grown indoors very often because they get so large. In Florida I've seen a lot of the variegated Agave, Agave americana 'Marginata', and I believe I've met up with the business end of them on more than one occasion. Ouch!
