Winters in Alberta must be very short on good light. You might consider supplemental light. A T5 flouresant might be enough. I've thought about that lately even though I probably have five times as much natural light as you this time of year. Mine would be more for my enjoyment than the plants. Mine are doing very well in a greenhouse and sunroom. In the greenhouse soil temperature drops into the 40s with good light and the plants do great.

Yes it gets dark at 5:00 p.m. in the winter. Thankfully most of our days do consist of lots of sunshine. Haven't considered the light yet. Could that be more of the problem. This is my first tree and I am absolutely loving it. The fruit is so much fun and such a fragrant plant.

Everything sounds just about right, given your situation.

The plant does sound a bit large for that size of a container. It'll probably need some
root-work and a full soil change next Spring/Summer.

Describe the leaf-drop. Are these healthy leaves? Yellow leaves? Old leaves? Young leaves?
Deformed leaves? Are they curled up? Are they interior leaves?

Also, you say nothing about fertilizer. What is your fertilizer regimen?

The leaves are curled but I assumed that was from the spider mites. They are mostly older leaves and interior most are yellowish some are green. As far as fertilizer I need some help in that area. I am having trouble finding a citrus fertilizer so have been using just a basic 20-20-20. Just fertilized a month ago.On my next trip to the city I plan on going to one of the big nurseries to see what they have. Our smaller ones don't seem to have what I need. I have been trying to keep the soil loose on top. My new growth leaves are a yellowish green but have been starting to green up a little. Is it normal for this much new bloom this time of year? Thank you so much for all of your help. I am feeling a lot more reassurred already.
