Pinus nigra 'Jude's Gem'

High grafted conifers are generally hard to find around here, so was delighted when a retail nursery in Sacramento had five different ones to choose from. I came home with a beautiful Picea pungens 'Blue Pearl' grafted at 20" and Pinus nigra 'Jude's Gem' grafted at 16".

There are only a few mentions of P.n. 'Jude's Gem' on the internet. Is this its true name?

Thanks for the help,
Barbara

It is 'Judy's Gem' for his wife.

By the way, you will have to keep a sturdy stake attached to it since it does not develop a trunk thick enough to support the head.

Thanks to Bob for the correct name and advice. I see that 'Judy's Gem' was discussed recently in another thread and is also being distributed as 'Ola'.

This is why I love the conifer forum: being able to get accurate information and good advice from you experts!

I had a photo ready of the foliage in case it was needed...
