Hi, I'm new! You guys gave me the 'fever'...

I just wanted to say "hi". I'm from Southern Wisconsin and I'm addicted to daylilies. There I said it. Now I can move on. *smile*

Right now I'm trying to narrow down the number of dl's I want...to just 50! HA! Man is that hard to do. I had a Silver Maple die (HATED that tree!) so I'm filling in where he left off. I've only been into daylilies maybe 4 years, but I started to really get the fever last year. I have maybe 30 varieties (nothing compared to some of you, but I only have a 100x150 ft yard!).

I would love to post a pic of my garden, but I don't know how...

Maybe one day I can trade with some of you Northies. I don't use chemicals or pesticides. Unless you call chicken poop a pesticide. ;o)

Anyhoo, HI!

Dani

Welcome to the forum, Dani. It's impossible not to become addicted to daylilies once you visit here and look at everyone's beautiful pics.

Have a great time shopping to fill in that yard -- Chris

Welcome to both of you! The information you can get here is great.

Welcome Dani! Let us know which 50 you pick. I've run out of planting room, but still can't stop ordering. I have no idea where I'm putting the 13 new ones this year, plus all the seedlings. I'm going to have to beg the neighbors for space. Sure wish my relatives lived here, so I could co-opt some of their ground.

    Hi Dani, and welcome!

I'm in SE WI, just west of Sturtevant (west of Racine.)
Where are you located, if you don't mind my asking?

I've been viewing this forum for a couple of years now, but still consider myself an on-going learner, since so many people here know so much more than I do, esp. concerning hybridizing.

There's no end to this addiction. I've told myself many times, I'm buying NO MORE new DLs unless I replace some old ones. Ha! That never works, because the people here keep posting more and more beautiful pics, and I say, "I HAVE TO HAVE THAT ONE!" So, I have no choice but to dig up more sod! (less grass to mow, more DLs to enjoy!)

To post a photo here, you need to first upload your photos to a free image hosting site. Many people here use Photobucket, as I do. You can then post your pictures from that site to the GW forums.

Let us know if you want help setting that up.

I have a wish list with several hundred varieties, that I havbe to narrow down to 50, plus I have some seeds coming from the lily auction, that I have no idea where I'm going to put!

Enjoy your addiction, and I assure you all of us here will enable you:)))

    Hi Dani,
You'll have a great time picking out those 50 daylilies--and then the next 50 and then...
I'm sure many of us say we have no more room and then when we see pictures of everyone else's lovelies we somehow find room. I have about 20 coming this spring that may require a shoehorn!

I'm glad I'm not the only new one w/ the fever. my internet has so many places book marked & my notebooks are filling up with new bed areas.. They all are gorgeous. I can't wait to see my garden exploding with color...

fairysoapgirl, that was dastardly! Wow!! Warning, don't follow that link or you'll be sorry!

I'm just getting addicted myself, got my first day lilies last year and loved them.

    Hi Dani!

I'm fairly new to this forum too! Looks like there are several of us. A lady I met over in irises got me interested in daylilies and here I am! I didn't know there was so much variety! I am totally loving the big ruffley edged ones! Didn't even know daylilies like that existed until this past fall.

Bye the way---how does that lily auction work? Is it like e-bay or something? I did follow that link above and WOW!!!---what a lot of daylilies!
