How exciting to have bluebirds nesting in your yard! I've read that bluebirds are plentiful here on the plains but I have never laid eyes on any. Of course I don't have a selection of nesting boxes for them to choose from either. LOL! I wouldn't worry, Mother Nature usually takes care of it's self.

They are such beautiful birds that you hate to think about some of the bully birds that attack them. There is little I could so now, anyway. Hopefully it will work out.

Something else I have never seen in real life.
They must really be pretty.

I have one house that's being used this year. Same one as last year. The new houses I built and hung last fall have no residents. I've read they are territorial and will reuse the same nesting box for several years. I was hoping to have a few pairs, but I'll take the one. I tried to get photos inside the house yesterday, but mama bird wasn't too eager to let that happen. And I didn't want to scare her away.

I've been seeing other broken eggs laying around the yard. They're tiny and white. I'm thinking the squirrels are the cause.

OT, but..
On several of our trips down to SC to see family, I saw the sign, "See Rock City" and wanted to stop so bad! I took a picture of the sign last time we passed through.

We have been very fortunate to have bluebirds nesting in our bird houses for several years. These photos are these year's visitors...always vigilant and watchful for their "little ones".

I don't have Bluebirds here so all of you with nesting bluebirds are so lucky. I have alot of bird houses and get chicadees and house wrens each year but no bluebirds or tree shallows.

Great Pics, Molly. Our wetlands have been dotted with with similar blue-bird houses - it was quite a project. Wish I could get some here, but I'd worry about my senior, but still hunter cats!!

Beautiful, Molly. I don;t understand why they didn;t choose a perfectly good birdhouse designed for them like they did last year, but I'm delighted to have them.
