Favorite/Least Favorite Color Daylily?

Just curious, but is there a daylily color to which you are particularly drawn? I think I can predict for a few of you: Red for Jan and Kathy, right? :o) Ellie is pink, and I think Debra's might be, too. Maybe yellow for Dot. You'll have to let me know if I'm right.

I'll start it off:

FAVORITE: Coral

LEAST FAVORITE: Mauve

Yep Chris you got it. :)
    Favorite: RED
Least Fav: I guess if I have to have a least it would be mauve too. LOL

Favorite: Pink (but I can't use pink at this house...clashes with brick)

Least Favorite: Kraft Macaroni and Cheese (LOL...I learned that color here)

Favorites - pretty much any super clear/bright color on blooms with heavy-substance that look great all day.
Least favorites - anything muddy-colored; and mauves.

My favorite changes each summer. One year I didn't like reds or oranges, leaning toward pink & peach. Last year it seemed to be orange that attracted me, the louder the better. This year I seem to be attracted to reds, although blue eyes are making my heart flutter too.

Favorite color = the one that catches my eye at the time. This year, I'm collecting purples, reds and pinks and everything in between from rich raspberry to cerise, corals, and "blue" eyes....but despite the fact that I am forbidding myself any more yellows, I also have one, maybe two, that I just had to have. Not only that, I'll always make room for a gorgeous polychrome here. Not to mention a lovely cream. Hmmmm....not leaving much out, am I?

Least favorite = mauve, closely followed by (or perhaps closely preceded by) washy, namby-pamby rose/pink.

Chris, How did you know my favorite was red???
    :-)
I have a definite preference for the hot colors - red, yellow, and orange.

My least favorite would be tan. However...I have this one seedling that is tan with a maroon colored eye that has really grown on me. So...under the right circumstances, I like them all.

    Hmmm, let's see...purples, pinks, whites...yellows, reds

starting to like patterns and blue eyes...

Okay, most colors except mauve...and that fleshy peachy tan color...

show me a big beautiful bloom (or maybe even a mini, tastes change) in most any color...and I'll probably like it...

(If only I could be more decisive...hehe)

    Favorite: Purples and rose pinks
Least Favorite: Brown passed off by hybridizers as lavender or plum rose.

I didn't used to like coral at all. But I'm coming around on that one.

How in the heck do I pick a favorite color when I love so many. Actually I do think I have more yellows, they are so cheerful. But the eyed ones just take my breath away.
The pouring rain has ruined everything today, umbrella here I come.
But I just LOVE orange and yellow, hmmmmmm. This is too hard!!! Can I think about this and get back with you later?
A couple of years ago Victorian Lace just blew me away with its pastel pink color, now after seeing Voila Francois, I'm just blown away, AGAIN.

FAVORITES Orange and Reds now question about it!...currently lusting for Wyoming Wildfire...which has BOTH colors!!

BUT...I am a huge Reckamp fan too..so love his pastel blends. For my softer side I guess!

LEAST FAVORITE Hate anything muddy looking and/or mauve!!

Which makes one wonder why there are soooo many that have those colors but nobody likes them???????

Just about everybody hates mauve! I hope I don't have any, LOL! Isn't mauve just a bluish pink? I guess I don't find that too repulsive.

W/o seeing a lot of mine, it is hard to say, but I do think I have every color possible. Started with pink, purple, white & yellow on one side of the yard. When I came to my red maples I started adding oranges & reds. I do have 1 coral-ish colored one that I can't wait to see what I think of.

I don't have anything brown, like Brown Witch. I guess I would have to see that in person to come to a conclusion.

    Favorite: Purples, lavenders, pinks, mauves

    Least Favorite: Reds, oranges, yellows

Hot colors don't work in my garden but Mauve certainly does. I have a lot of burgundy foliage plants and mauve flowers go beautifully with them. I love my Always Afternoon next to 'Crimson Pygmy' barberry.

Favorite would have to be a good, medium true pink.
I also can't resist edged, no-eye blends, they are my new
favorites, followed by a good yellow with a lavender eye.

Least favorites would be a fleshy peachy beige pink
or yellow with screaming red eye. Ugh.

    Good thread!

Favorites: What daylilies do best IMO- yellow and orange shades.

Least Favorite: Any daylily that melts and is not colorfast. Who cares what it looks like at 7 o'clock in the morning if by afternoon or evening it's a mushy bleached mess.

Favorite- I thought it was pink...but it's really those screaming tangerine oranges. Be still my heart!

Least favorite - mauve. It looks like it comes from a coal mine, in need of vitamin injections and an oxygen mask.

    Fav: Purples and Reds

    Least Fav: Muddy flat colours

    Fav: Pinks

    Least Fav: tannish-brownish shades

Nice thread, really made me think about what was my true favorite because I like so many!

Favorite: the creamy to pink pastel blends like True Gertrude Demarest, Dinett Sue, Champagne Elegance.

Least favorite: the color of Ida's Magic and her many look-alikes. What do you call that, anyway?

    Favorite: pinkpinkpinkpinkpinkpink

Least favorite: mauve and road stripe/bulldozer yellow

Favorite: cream, pale yellow, or apricot with big dark burgundy or purple-black eye.

Least Favorite: the flesh colored ones in the road median next to the Regal Theater. When the bloom fades it looks like little dried-up severed fingers sticking up all over.
    Ick. Much worse than mauve.

I am fickle. In photographs, I am drawn to the pinks and purples. In the garden I like the bright colors that I can see from a distance.

    Good thread!

FAVORITE: hot pink, rose pink, medium pink, clear light pink, cream pink, lavender pink

LEAST FAVORITE: anything described as pink but is definitely not pink (mauve, flesh, etc.) & bright gold

My favorites is BRIGHT yellow and reds with purples coming in at #3.. My least favorite is BROWN..I think Milk Chocolate is the ugliest daylily in the world.... I thought it was dead from the drought...NOT... I spotted a small fan with a scape coming so I left it alone to see what it was as the tag was gone... Guess what... Milk Chocolate...

I lost so many goodies but not that one!! LOL!!

I love lots of colors as long as they are clear and BRIGHT.
But I would have to say I am most drawn to the ORANGE flowers.

I love Primal Scream( mine hasn't bloomed yet) and Krakatoa Lava(it glows).

    {{gwi:690391}}

But my favorite variety is Parrot Jungle. It has such an array of bright clear colors all in one bloom.

    My least favorite color is....

mauve and anything muddy or anything that fades.

Fav True Pink with a green throat with a light watermark
Not for me Peach with purple eye, to my eye they clash with the "finger nails scratching down a chalk board" kind a cringe

So I must be the wierd one out, because I tend to like mauve - or my eye's version of it.

I think the petals on this are a version of mauve, and I LOVE this daylily
    Eagle Nest

Michelle -- I like that one, too! But (at least in my Crayola crayons color scheme) I don't consider that mauve. I'm not sure what shade of purple I'd call it. Maybe grape? :o)

I love true pinks (not into peach, though I have some that are peach, but when I bought them, the photos looked pink, was sure they'd be pink. I love yellows and purples as well, and ones that are near white with eyes of different colors. This years favorites of the ones I have are blue eyed butterfly and My special angel. I do not like muddy colors, and though they are okay, anything bright orange clashes with my house. they are the most popular ones sold by the man I bought all my daylilies from. I'm just not a "orange" person. I've never seen a brown daylily, and would not like it.

I'm enjoying this thread because a few years ago everyone's least favorite was orange. Then Primal Scream and Citrix came onto the market and everyone is liking orange now.

Orange is my favorite color in the garden, no matter what flower it is. Orange against green and blue-green foliage lights up the garden like nothing else.

I'm not a big fan of mauve or any wimpy color. I do like Brown Witch, but have not seen enough other brown daylilies to know if I like it in general in the garden.

But even though I say I like orange the most, I'm a sucker for a full-bodied, ruffled, yellow daylily. That's what I keep buying this year.

I've always loved orange daylilies, and my first sight of PRIMAL SCREAM merely confirmed that love. Really like brown daylilies as well....and yellow, well, no need to say any more. Yellow daylilies are WONDERFUL!

Mauve to me is probably not what mauve is to an artist or colorist. Naturally, no daylilies come to mind at the moment, but I've seen what I think of as mauve intros and have not cared for them. My recollection is of a palish, dirty purple-pinkish shade. Not that that's very helpful I'm sure! In fact, someone mentioned ALWAYS AFTERNOON, which is in fact a mauve. But I've seen it and have liked it well enough, and I've not thought of it as mauve. But EAGLE NEST is very much NOT mauve IMO! And Faye Shooter would probably agree with me, seeing as how she registered it as a "medium purple." :) All this as a way of saying that my new least favorite color is a dirty lavender-pink. :)))

I haven't been back to this thread in a while & glad I came back. You were all making me 2nd guess my interpretation of mauve. I've seen Always Afternoon, consider it mauve & like it.

I went to Tinkers & searched with mauve as color. VERY few came up with just mauve as its color. Purple mauve, lavender mauve, silvery mauve, I even seen one described as autumn mauve, what the...?

I did see 2 that were posted just recently that were described as JUST mauve, Blue Flirt (find in Blue Eyed Babies thread) & Chinese Watercolor (Munson thread). Went back to look at both of them & they do not appear to be the same color.

Here is a link that might be useful: This color chart for azaleas doesn't even list mauve as a color
