Does anyone buy plants on eBay?

It's been several years, but I used to buy plants once in awhile on eBay. I'm much more careful about buying anything on eBay anymore because I've gotten burned a couple of times. I just wondered if anyone here buys plants from sellers on eBay and whether you've had good or bad experiences.

Thanks,

Mary

I've had good and not so good experiences, but not bad. Two or three of my beloved sellers have moved on. I miss them. This year I bought GORGEOUS daylilies - all peachy to orange tints, they bloom different times, and are all slightly different. The woman was WONDERFUL and helped me choose what would look the best in the situation I was planting them in (around a Peach brugmansia). Her fans were HUGE and she sent a bunch of bonus daylilies to make up for the postage she had asked for. It was really a wonderful transaction and she has not sold any daylilies since the early spring!

I have not purchased plants on ebay, but had a very bad experience buying something else. I would recommend using pay pay. What I paid for never arrived and ebay was no help at all, the only help I got was from pay pal, and they did refund my money.

I haven't bought plants but some seeds once. I buy all kinds of other things though.

I would say USE PAY PAL and check the shipping and ask questions if ????? before bidding.

    NEVER had any problems

I am a frequent ebay buyer. I have a few bad experiences, but far more good ones than bad...but if you use paypal you can get a refund when a buyer is bad...the best thing to do is read a persons feedback, not JUST look at the percent...read WHAT people write and also beware that you can have a decent percent feedback as long as your selling thousands a month, so read and decide in that manner. I bought many of my hostas that way and got lovely large plants and my brunnera also. I have also bought many garden decor that way too...I love one stop shopping from my living room in my jammies. I buy only what I am looking for, not impluse buys as I am passing aisles by in the store. I just bought a hot tub this week. Three years old only with a small leak (which my husband fixed in a couple hours) for just four hundred dollars. The seller even delivered it for a small fee.

As long as you do your research and pay with paypal, you will most likely have a good experience. Depending tho on the sellers zone and your zone. Heat at this time of the year can bake a plant during shipping and turn it to slime. I would take that into consideration before buying in July and Aug.

I've bought flats of supertunia plugs on ebay the last 2 years and I've had great results... it always is a bit of a leap of faith, though!

I'm as addicted to eBay as I am gardening. Like Keesha, I love shopping in my jammies. I have bought some plants from there with both good and bad results. I got a crown of thorns 3 years ago and it is the most beautiful plant! I got black sedums at the same time and they are just now starting to take off and grow.
I always try to buy from someone in my zone. I've got my eye on some quince shrubs and weigela but it's just too hot to risk shipping them now. When I first bought plants, I didn't realize how the weather affected the shipping, so now I am more careful about when I buy.
Like everyone else said, use PayPal and check up on the seller. Always read feedback and ask questions about anything your not sure of. And, don't be afraid to leave negative if the transaction doesn't meet your expectations. That's the only way the rest of us buyers know who to shop with.

I have been buying and selling on ebay for 5 years and have never had a problem.

I buy lots of hostas on ebay, as well as flower seed. I also purchased a plumeria from Thailand. I have always been more than satisfied.
